this seems to be a bug and not a security issue having two shares on a samba server but on different disks it is possible to copy/delete a file from one share to another but not to move (using a win98 workstation). Using the same disk moving is possible. Some time before it was possible and Windows made the copy. Now it seems the samba-server has to copy and doesnt. this is samba 2.2.0.15, kernel 2.4.4, suse 7.2 There was another bug in previous version, I dont like to try it again: having two directorys with equal names, one is subdirectory of the other one, moving the second one to the first, using windows explorer, resulted in a harddisc-crash of the server (defective dir-entry). e.g. dir0 dir1 dir1 moving dir1 to dir0 in explorer ... I had forgotten about this issue, but this is also gonna be a problem... Is it possible to copy all of the files from a Win2K share to a Samba share, and keep all of the existing Created/Modified date/time stamp info? Thanks Charles
