After upgrading from 2.0.7 to 2.2.0 smbpasswd has stopped working. If I change a passwd when logged in as root it works just fine but when logged in as a normal user it gives the following output: [george@eagle samba-2.2.0]$ smbpasswd -D 3 Failed to open /etc/samba/secrets.tdb added interface ip=142.231.39.30 bcast=142.231.39.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 Old SMB password: New SMB password: Retype new SMB password: Connecting to 127.0.0.1 at port 139 socket option SO_KEEPALIVE = 0 socket option SO_REUSEADDR = 0 socket option SO_BROADCAST = 0 socket option TCP_NODELAY = 1 socket option IPTOS_LOWDELAY = 0 socket option IPTOS_THROUGHPUT = 0 socket option SO_SNDBUF = 16384 socket option SO_RCVBUF = 16384 socket option SO_SNDLOWAT = 1 socket option SO_RCVLOWAT = 1 socket option SO_SNDTIMEO = 0 socket option SO_RCVTIMEO = 0 machine 127.0.0.1 rejected the password change: Error was : The specified password is invalid.
