samba - Apr 2001 - Partial file download

Hi,

first of all, I'm new to this list so I don't know if this question has
been asked before, I searched the archives and couldn't find anything.

I need a way to download the first X kb (10 to 100kb) of a
file from a samba share via a command line tool. 
is there a way to do this ?
