Should work. I have a NFS server, and log into my home directory off my
testing server, which runs samba and has /home NFS mounted and NIS
bound.
It works fine, as far as I can tell.
Just remember that you probably need NFSv3 for better locking, and that
NFS is as insecure as all heck.
