Are you getting short (i.e. 4 lines) banner pages? Is the printer an IP
printer? Is it an HP? If the answer to these three is yes, it is almost
certainly a printer-generated banner page. The only way to get rid of
these if you are going to continue to use LPD printing (i.e. instead of
printing to the 9100 port, something which is available with with LPRng)
is to telnet to the printer and then type "banner: 0" and then
"quit" at
the interface. And, believe it or not, these can't even be turned off on
some older models.
