Dear All, We have successfully run 1.9.18p2 on our AIX 3.2.5 servers since 1.9.18p2 was released, with heavy access for printing and file sharing from users and NT servers. We are currently in the process of upgrading to AIX 4.3.2 (now completed) and have been trying to implement 2.0.5a. I have used the AIX binary install which all worked. We are using WINS/DNS/DHCP running on the NT servers (all been successfully running for sometime). For testing purposes the nmbd and smbd have been started as daemons. ./nmbd -D and ./smbd -D. We have run through the diagnosis.txt many times, Test 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 Passed Test 3 Failed Test 7+ Can't complete without test 3. doing smbclient -Lgenesis -d5 -N fails with "Session request to GENESIS failed" and "Session request to *SMBSERVER failed". smbclient -L<other unix servers> works o.k. We have also looked at hosts allow/deny(eventually commenting out both) and binding parameters(bind interfaces only is set to "No"). There is a long pause after the message "Sent session request" is shown, it then eventually continues on, but failing. We are getting errors "Broken pipe etc" in the log files but there are only originating from the NT servers. We have also tried, in desperation, to become a member of our NT Domain which appeared to work and Genesis now appears in network neighbourhood, alas it did not help with the original problem. Trying to view the server from DOS or network neighbourhood gives, "Semaphore timeout" .. We are desperate to solve this problem as it is now hindering our upgrade plans. The following log file shows the errors from one of our NT servers to Genesis, this may or may not be connected with the original problem.
