samba - Mar 1998 - Getting SAMBA to use WinNT4.0 for authentication

Im interested in using samba to authenticate against a NT server
Ive read the SAMBA Integrating UNIX and Windows book and added the 
password server = myNTboxipaddress
encrypt passwords = yes
sercurity = server

But when trying to connect to the share I get this in smb.log

serveripaddress rejected the session
password server  is not connected
NT Password did not match ! Defaulting to Lanman

is there something I need to configure in windows to allow samba to use it
for passwords
