I am running Amanda 2.4.0b6, Samba 1.9.18p3 and Digital Unix 4.0b with bundle patch 5. I can backup up filesystems with no problem. I can't back up the files I would expect Samba having a problem with (i.e., pagefile and some security files). I can sort of restore as well, but I have to leave out certain read-only files otherwise samba bails out (i.e., ntldr). So, here is what I have done thus far... 1) Created a level 0 backup of a C$ share from an NT workstation. This worked fine. 2) Re-installed NT on the same NT machine. 3) Used amrestore to grab the archive off of the tape and put it into my hold directory. This worked fine. I was left with one large tar file. 4) Ran the following command to restore the tar file: smbclient //koala/C$ "" -U Administrator -TXx black.__koala_C\$.19980228.0 boot.ini IO.sys MSDOS.sys NTDETECT.COM ntldr I had to exclude the listed files because it would bomb out otherwise. Is there a better way around this? Anyway, the restore goes for a while until I reach the following error message: tent Wizard.pwz of size 227840 bytes restore tar file \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\Presentations\Company Meeting (Online).pot of size 33792 bytes restore tar file \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\Presentations\Company Meeting (Standard).pot of size 31744 bytes restore tar file \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\Presentations\Corporate Financial Overview (Online).pot of size 145920 bytes restore tar file \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\Presentations\Corporate Financial Overview (Standard).po of size 158720 bytes this tar file appears to contain some kind of link - ignoring skipping \.\@LongLink... checksums don't match 0 10526 abandoning restore Does anyone have any idea what happened here?
