Don't use the "socket address" option! Yet another person has written to samba-bugs with browsing problems. When they sent their smb.conf file I noticed they are using the "socket address" option. This breaks browsing totally. The socket address option was meant for very specialised applications where you want to run multiple totally separate smbd processes on one machine, perhaps because you are an ISP offering virtual hosting services along with public CIFS services. Using it for any "normal" setup is totally wrong. Unfortunately the option was included in the sample smb.conf file in recent versions of Samba. It was commented out, but some people obviously got the wrong idea. Cheers, Andrew
