rsync - Mar 2010 - Snapshot status

Hi,

I'm interested in the March 9th snapshot, and wondered how close it
would be to production release? I'm really interested in the new
--info and progress options for timing transfers. Given the major
version update and the protocol change, would it become incompatible
with old v3.0.7 clients?
