[Fedora-xen] FC6-xen kernel panics (dom0) on boot after agpgart init
Hey All, Attempting to run FC6-xen on my system. It''s currently running 2.6.20-1.2933.fc6.i686 happily. However, the XEN kernel panics on boot. I had to enable serial console in order to capture the dmesg for troubleshooting. I''d like your opinion of this output. Looks to me like it has something to do with agpgart. This is on a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 motherboard (rev 1.0, bios F10), with a Conroe E6400 and 4GB DDR2-800. ICH8 is the main northbridge, however, there''s also a JMB363 AHCI IDE controller as well. A non-xen kernel agpgart section looks like this: Linux agpgart interface v0.101 (c) Dave Jones agpgart: Detected an Intel 965G Chipset. agpgart: AGP aperture is 256M @ 0x0 However, as you will see, in the boot text below, the xen-kernel (dom0) seems to kernel panic right after this: Linux agpgart interface v0.101 (c) Dave Jones agpgart: Detected an Intel 965G Chipset. BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000008 printing eip: c04b81a0 .... cut Thank you for your time. __ __ _____ ___ _____ ___ __ __ \ \/ /___ _ __ |___ / / _ \ |___ / / _ \ / _| ___ / /_ \ // _ \ ''_ \ |_ \| | | | |_ \ __| | | || |_ / __| ''_ \ / \ __/ | | | ___) | |_| | ___) |__| |_| || _| (__| (_) | /_/\_\___|_| |_| |____(_)___(_)____/ \___(_)_| \___|\___/ http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/netos/xen University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory Xen version 3.0.3-0-1.2933.fc6 (brewbuilder@build.redhat.com) (gcc version 4.1.1 20070105 (Red Hat 4.1.1-51)) Mon Mar 19 10:39:57 EDT 2007 Latest ChangeSet: unavailable (XEN) Command line: /boot/xen.gz-2.6.20-1.2933.fc6 noreboot com1=115200,8n1 (XEN) Physical RAM map: (XEN) 0000000000000000 - 000000000009f800 (usable) (XEN) 000000000009f800 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) (XEN) 00000000000f0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) (XEN) 0000000000100000 - 00000000cfee0000 (usable) (XEN) 00000000cfee0000 - 00000000cfee3000 (ACPI NVS) (XEN) 00000000cfee3000 - 00000000cfef0000 (ACPI data) (XEN) 00000000cfef0000 - 00000000cff00000 (reserved) (XEN) 00000000e0000000 - 00000000e4000000 (reserved) (XEN) 00000000fec00000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) (XEN) 0000000100000000 - 0000000130000000 (usable) (XEN) System RAM: 4094MB (4192764kB) (XEN) Xen heap: 9MB (10224kB) (XEN) PAE enabled, limit: 16 GB (XEN) found SMP MP-table at 000f5310 (XEN) DMI 2.4 present. Re: [Fedora-xen] FC6-xen kernel panics (dom0) on boot after agpgart init
I can''t seem to win.. with Xen... :-/ Ok, agp=no on the kernel command gets me past the agpgart crash listed below. However... I am presented with another OOPS as soon as the kernel in dom0 gets around to looking at my firewire-attached drives. If I unplug my external firewire chassis, it actually completes booting and everything seems ok.. However, the SECOND I plug my drives in, Xen panics.. Re: [Fedora-xen] FC6-xen kernel panics (dom0) on boot after agpgart init
Did you get the same results with the kernel 2.6.19.6.5? Try to use this one because it seems the 2.6.20 is allways crashing (also on my AMD 1000) Am Donnerstag April 5 2007 schrieb George Shearer:> I can''t seem to win.. with Xen... :-/ > > Ok, agp=no on the kernel command gets me past the agpgart crash listed > below. However... I am presented with another OOPS as soon as the kernel in dom0 gets around to looking at my firewire-attached drives. If I unplug my external firewire chassis, it actually completes booting and everything seems ok.. However, the SECOND I plug my drives in, Xen panics.. We''re trying to track down the problems & resolve them so we can get back a stable Xen kernel again. If anyone captures kernel panic dumps please report in BZ so we can track them.
