asterisk users - Jun 2006 - Running a poll server with asterisk

I looking for guidance as to what methods to use to run an asterisk
server that will dial a phone  number block (example phone block: from
1000 to 2000) play a file to the called person like "this is an
automatic system, please answer 1 for yes and 3 for no".
Then the system should record the answer (where?) and the phone number.

Should I read the phones from a DB and then write the answer to the same DB?
Does asterisk provide macros,scripts or methods to
open/query/read/write to a db for such tasks?

AGI is your answer.

I would write that in PHP because I'm used to it and it as all the DB
access you will need.
