Hi folks. Thanks for having patience with a newbie... I am going through the setup exercise at http://chayden.net/Asterisk/SeUpAsteriskAtHome.htm I am trying to do it all on BroadVoice since this is just experimental, and the 100 minutes of outgoing from them should be enough for now. So I set up BroadVoice for both inbound and outbound, using a combination of the instructions referenced above and the info at http://www.broadvoice.com/support_install_asterisk.html for the outgoing setup. Everything seemed to be going relatively smoothly (not entirely sure I got the outgoing settings right) until I got to the "Check for Phone Registration" section. My Xten phone logs in properly, but when I dial *23 I get a busy signal. Is that right? Seems like I'm supposed to get a dialog. Well, I tried plowing ahead and made it further down the page, but get stuck again when I get to the Outbound Routing section. When I dial 7777, I hear a dial tone, the screen says "dialing," then it says "connected," then it says "Hung Up." It shows that I was connected for one second. Seems like that's not right either. Any hints on where I should troubleshoot? TIA! P.S. Wondering if I have an extra trunk too... I have the SIP/ broadvoice one I set up for both inbound and outbound, and I also have a ZAP/g0 trunk. Where did that come from?
For some reason, many people don't like to see posts here related to AAH or AMP (yet less related topics are ok). You might have better luck posting your problems at http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=420324 You should search this forum to see how other people have set up Broadvoice with AAH. Not all of the instructions you referenced from Broadvoice apply when using AMP. From what I've gleemed from reading through the message, Broadvoice seems to be a PITA to set up (at least compared to other providers). You will need to provide much more information in order for someone to assist you. You need to be looking at the Asterisk console (by typing asterisk -r). This will allow you to see what your * box is doing. In addition, you run in debug mode to see *a lot* of info. Dialing 7777 simulates an incoming call. It doesn't sound like you have set up your Incoming Calls page correctly. You might go back to your instructions and review the Set Up Incoming Calls section to make you did this correctly. Ed, geekgazette.com has a good tutorial for setting up BV and AAH. If the list "grumpy old men" get upset about the AAH discussion and the sourceforge forum isn't much help, you can contact me off-list as well, it isn't that complicated once you weed out all of the conflicting information you find through google.
