[Asterisk-Users] Are there online forums instead of this
I completely agree. Mailing lists have numerous disadvantages, too numerous to list here This really should be on a forum such as http://www.unix.com or one of the other forums out there. Digium should set up a forum site (I suggest they use vBulletin) and transition this traffic (which is great!) to the forum.> > > Hi, > > > > I am new to Asterisk and the first thing I have noticed about > > Asterisk > > and Pingtels open PBX's is that they are using this dinosaur > > method of > > running forums. [Asterisk-Users] Are there online forums instead of this emailforum??
Yep I agree with you chuck. I'd much prefer a web based forum. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Chuck Bunn Sent: Thursday, March 31, 2005 10:27 AM To: Linux - PBX, Asterisk Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Are there online forums instead of this emailforum?? Hi, I am new to Asterisk and the first thing I have noticed about Asterisk and Pingtels open PBX's is that they are using this dinosaur method of running forums. It is a real pain getting every message in the forum and essentially keeping my own database of issues. With that said are there any forums that are well used or that might even convert this email in a true forum that is searchable and that doesn't require me downloading every email. Before you go and rant on me go see how Mambo Server does it at http://forum.mamboserver.com. The forums are easy to use and thus are easy to participate in. I use mozilla Thunderbird and I have setup filters and all but it still is a pain to use this outdated email forum. Thanks

[Asterisk-Users] Are there online forums instead of this emailforum??
Hi Everyone, Well since we are on the topic of forums, I do have plans to setup a voip discussion forum and dedicate some resources for Asterisk discussion/development/comments/rants etc. Here's an open call to anybody who would be interested in helping out in any way you can. I am looking for moderators who have good knowledge in Asterisk and voip in general to help build up a forum community. Please kindly email me offlist with your interest. Many thanks :) Cheers On Thu, 31 Mar 2005 16:52:31 +0100, Giles Coochey <giles.coochey@mirada-solutions.com> wrote:> > Hi, > > > > I am new to Asterisk and the first thing I have noticed about > > Asterisk > > and Pingtels open PBX's is that they are using this dinosaur > > method of > > running forums. I prefer a mail list. I like having my own local archive to search through. Message boards are for casual users IMHO.

irc is what I use. You can get to asterisk channel by logging into irc.freenode.net #asterisk On Thu, 31 Mar 2005 13:59:05 -0800, Matt <mattl@xgforce.com> wrote:> interesting thought, once I got time, I might setup a forum for folks of > asterisk. > > Best Regards > > matt > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Matt Ryanczak" <ryanczak@arin.net> > To: "Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion" > <asterisk-users@lists.digium.com> > Sent: Thursday, March 31, 2005 10:36 AM > Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] Are there online forums instead of > thisemailforum?? > > > I prefer a mail list.
