Hi, can I use an external modem such as Usr or other une attached at ttyS0 port on my linux box whith asterisk for routing incoming and outgoing calls?

External modems must use the Hayes AT command set. The command set is not designed to allow for bidirectional comms traffic. So you would get into a cb radio situation where one side could talk but not the other. -- Steven Critchfield <critch@basesys.com>
