First I like to apologize if this is common knowledge, but I'm unable to get MSN messenger 4.6 to register with asterisk. I configured MSN messenger to use UDP and the IP of my asterisk server I edited the registry entry - for pC2PC calls under Windows98. What I'm I missing ? Asterisk version information Asterisk CVS-04/25/03-05:37:19 sip.conf [pingtel] type=friend username=pingtel secret=blah host=dynamic qualify=1000 ; Consider it down if it's 1 second to reply callgroup=1,3-4 pickupgroup=1,3-4 ;defaultip=192.168.0.60
Take out the 'username' and 'secret' in the conf and it should register fine.. I never did get to the bottom of it but I think it has somthing to do with the server requesting a MD5 encrypted password and MS products not being able to use MD5.. Wasn't really an issue for us becasue we don't use Windows on our desktops anyway..
