Tru64 patch won't make it into 3.5 due to lack of interest.
Tru64 patch will not make it into 3.5 (this is final) due to lack of willing people to test. I have given the Tru64/osf1 community almost a month to test it. And *ONE* person came forward to give me verification. And don't give me shit about "I don't have time." The person who tested it was LEAVING his employer with Tru64. He found time. IT IS YOUR GAWD DAMN PLATFORM. IF YOU DON'T CARE ENOUGH TO SUPPORT WHAT YOU USE (OR DEVELOP) THEN YOU HAVE ONLY YOURSELF TO BLAME. Sorry kids, if you don't care. Nor do I. I won't be doing any more work for Tru64 platform. I'd rather work with the AIX or Cygwin developers since they care about their systems and are quick to respond and quick to ensure their platform is solid. When two more people give a damn about Tru64 and sends the results of a regess/ on tru64 w/ privsep enabled with the last published patch. I'll include it for 3.6. - Ben I'm an asshole. People have pointed it out, but I'm a useful asshole.

Hi Ben, I just discovered your patch for Tru64 privsep problems when SIA (enhanced security) is enabled. I only just got around to trying 3.4p1 and privsep on this platform today. I'll see if I can make headway with testing your patch tomorrow. Sorry if there hasn't been much response from what's left of the community...Sometimes it seems like there's nobody left after DEC/Compaq (/HP?) mismanagement, but hey, Mozilla is supporting Tru64, and even OpenVMS! Maybe you can get their development team interested. I'm definitely interested in supporting OpenSSH on Tru64 because we still use this platform in a big way. David Potterveld

The existing ones in -cvs aren't completely functional out-of-the-box on over half the platforms I have access to. Works: OpenBSD, Linux. Doesn't: AIX, HP-UX, Solaris. There's patches floating around (by Roumen Petrov and myself) to address this. I'm prepared to roll up all of the changes and suggestions in the following threads if there's some interest in merging the result. http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=openssh-unix-dev&m=102734348721347 http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=openssh-unix-dev&m=102760388201413 -Daz. -- Darren Tucker (dtucker at zip.com.au) GPG Fingerprint D9A3 86E9 7EEE AF4B B2D4 37C9 C982 80C7 8FF4 FA69 Good judgement comes with experience. Apparently Analagous Threads
- Tru64 privsep patch testing
- openssh-3.4p1 built on Tru64 Unix 5.1a - bug with sftpd
- interested tru64 unix person - privsep patch against 3.4p1 + howto /regress
- configure fixes for Tru64 UNIX V4.0x
- no, I see now, tru64 pty ownership wrong on entry to setup_sia, may need /usr/lbin/chgpt (WAS Re: Tru64 privsep patch testing)
