Ok - after looking at everyone''s schedule: http://www.doodle.com/tb5wxd4mnznhueyx it''s clear that there isn''t any single time when everyone can make it. However, the majority seems to be available at 2PM EST (7PM London, 11AM PST) http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meetingtime.html?month=7&day=22&year=2010&p1=136&p2=263&p3=224&p4=240 I suggest we have the meeting then on IRC (irc.freenode.net #mapstraction) unless there is a preference for Skype (andrew_j_turner)? Lev, Dave, & Ed - sorry this first meeting doesn''t fit in your availability. Obviously it would be tremendous if you could make it, but we''ll also take notes, share the outcomes, and have follow up meetings/discussions. If you want, you can also share your ideas out before hand, or ping me on Skype tomorrow before the meeting to share your thoughts. Thanks, I look forward to chatting tomorrow. sorry I couldn''t join, I hope it was useful I have only two comments to add a. I do not care what the process for development/version control is. It can be svn, git, something else. But we should have one clearly explained process. Please pick one and kill all others. b. on a note related to clarity, http://www.mapstraction.com is terribly out of date and does little to make the project accessible to new contributors. We should change it, with an emphasis on - v2 should be used, not v1 - explain how to contribute (see point a above) I am happy to work on this second point and if no one objects will have someone make a very simple new version of that site. let me know. best to all of you, I look forward to seeing mxn blossom Ed 2010/7/22 Andrew Turner <ajturner at highearthorbit.com>:> Ok - after looking at everyone''s schedule: > http://www.doodle.com/tb5wxd4mnznhueyx > > it''s clear that there isn''t any single time when everyone can make it. > However, the majority seems to be available at 2PM EST (7PM London, 11AM > PST) > > http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meetingtime.html?month=7&day=22&year=2010&p1=136&p2=263&p3=224&p4=240 > > I suggest we have the meeting then on IRC (irc.freenode.net #mapstraction) > unless there is a preference for Skype (andrew_j_turner)? > > Lev, Dave, & Ed - sorry this first meeting doesn''t fit in your availability. > Obviously it would be tremendous if you could make it, but we''ll also take > notes, share the outcomes, and have follow up meetings/discussions. Thanks Ed, everyone is in stark agreement on your two points as well. We very quickly all agreed to move to Github and contribution instructions are being written up and a build process that will generate a latest stable download zip archive. I made updates to Mapstraction.com for all the links to Github and the V2 code and Sandbox. If you want to make a new version of the site/design, that''s great. One of the points we didn''t resolve yet is how to put refreshing content (e.g. News) without it appearing even more stale if there hasn''t been a news update for a long period of time. The site is currently up in http://github.com/mapstraction/homepage Cheers, Andrew On Jul 23, 2010, at 7:03 AM, Ed Freyfogle <edf at sloan.mit.edu> wrote:> sorry I couldn''t join, I hope it was useful > > I have only two comments to add > > a. I think the solution is not to attempt to have news on the main page. just have the basic links that someone needs to get started being a contributor. if they want news they should join the mailing list. For the occasional big bit of news, the mapstraction twitter or such can probably suffice great to see us progressing Ed> The site is currently up in http://github.com/mapstraction/homepage > > Cheers, > Andrew > > > > On Jul 23, 2010, at 7:03 AM, Ed Freyfogle <edf at sloan.mit.edu> wrote: > >> sorry I couldn''t join, I hope it was useful >> >> I have only two comments to add >> >> a. Hi, Is possible that our organization (Eduardo Riesco and me), IDELab ( http://idelab.uva.es) could appear in the page footer as Nestoria or multimap?
