HDT is currently starting a new beta cycle before achieving the 0.5.0 release. This is a pretty big step for HDT as it features a highly requested feature aka Dumping. Dumping allow users to export the result of the detection to a TFTP server. All the details and the links to download it can be found here : http://www.hdt-project.org/wiki/Dump I really appreciate to have feedbacks on it before the release that would occurs in 1 or 2 weeks. Cheers, Erwan
HDT is currently ending its beta cycle before achieving the 0.5.0 release. This is a pretty big step for HDT as it features a highly requested feature aka Dumping. The major feature of this release allow users to export the result of the detection to a TFTP server. All the details and the links to download it can be found here : http://www.hdt-project.org/wiki/Dump I didn't got any feedback on beta2, that's my last call before release that will occurs by the end of this week. Note to the mageia mailing list readers : As HDT is integrated at boot time of the installation process, I would like to integrate this 0.5.0 release on the incoming mageia. So would be nice if some of you can spend a little time on testing this release. Download links can be found here : http://www.hdt-project.org/wiki/hdt-0.5.0 Cheers, Erwan

That said, I have been testing this on several machines and have not identified any real problems yet. There is one issue that has been repeated in the past related to refreshing of windows. I think if the background when clearing an area would be blue and not black, it would be less noticable. Also, if you go to eg. BIOS and then press TAB, it refreshes the screen, showing the BIOS window, but the main menu disappeared. Not a major problem. It would also be nice if exiting HDT would go back to the state of syslinux as it was, eg. if you started HDT from the menu, go back to the menu. I don't know if that is feasible though (maybe just reloading the config). Maybe syslinux needs a hook for this ? First, as explained in http://www.hdt-project.org/wiki/Dump#UsingTFTP , Dump mode is currently only working with PXE. Second point, you shouldn't have reach this step of exporting as you are not having a PXE stack loaded. So I'll fix that for beta 4. Thanks for your report, hope you enjoyed HDT anyway ;o) Cheers, Erwan

Let's consider someone that have to dump 1000 hosts, it might need some other items in the filename than the mac address. So I'm trying to figure out what could be a solution that match everyone. Only the mac might/could/may/must be the default value but in such case, we have to keep an option to select more option to setup the filename. That was my proposition, allowing people to define how does the filename must be composed of. Erwan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
