Syslinux - Dec 2004 - hi from a new user and question about users

hello
i am doing my "own" live-linux to do that i install the knoppix-es in
my HD
and change it i configure the desktop whit one user the icons all of the
desktop but now i dont know how to do to use that desktop because if i
change the default user in var.conf  to that user i get a lot of errors and
if i do nothing i havent my customized desktop
please help
