[Xapian-devel] How to search quickly in static data set

Take a look at xapian-compact, which will reduce unused space and make accesses to many of the tables more likely to follow a sequential pattern. It has some options for doing a full compaction which make the btree much more tightly packed than it usually would be, which are probably appropriate for your case.
