unkern wrote:> I have wine 0.9.46 and warcraft 3RC 1.21bThat's a really old Wine version - upgrade. Then head to AppDB and read the FAQs and HOWTOs.
I dont know how to upgrade it. Also just to add I have ubuntu hardy
ok I found an article on how to get the newest version, now what can I do
You can work with the Wine registry simply by opening a terminal windows, and typing "regedit" at the command prompt, just as you would in Windows. The registry editor is identical. Browse to the appropriate registry key locations, and make additions or changes as directed, then exit the app. Done. Makng a backup of the registry before you make changes is always a good idea, so export your registry to a file before you begin. Still doesnt work for me. I can enter the registry but I dont know what to do when i get to the specified folder. I no longer get a fatal error when i start warcraft3 now i get a warning for direct x then i get a warning saying it cannot find the cd.

If you are talking about forcing it to run in opengl you can add a -opengl to the command that launches wc3. Try this on from the shell first and do not do this as root. John

Do the following as the user you will play the game in from the shell. Do not login as root or do a su or suid. winetricks vcrun2005sp1 If the game still does not work reinstall it inside wine using the original cd as the user that will play the game. Do not copy it from a running windows install or have your c: drive in wine mapped to some windows drive. John
none of it worked, im still getting the same messages
