[syslinux] VirtualBox virtual machine hangs after ISOlinux upgrade 4.05->5.10 and up.
Hello, I have specialized linux installation which uses ISOLinux bootloader. Recently isolinux version has changed from 4.05 to 5.10. From that time there is a problem with VirtualBox VM, It crashes (guru meditation) on attempt to boot from HDD or hangs on installation from CD. Strange part is, the very same ISO on ESXi VM works like a charm. Also burned on CD and started on "real" hardware works. Tried VirtualBox 4.1.14 on Linux and Windows 4.1.12. Tried to change VM settings, no luck. After "Guru meditation" crash there is a log file with last line: fatal error in recompiler cpu: Trying to execute code with memory type addr_code=00000000631b0020 addend=00007fceea68e000 at 00000000631b04fd. (iHandlerMemType=0x38 iMMIOMemType=0x30) I will appreciate any help, Thank You.

Have you tried it on that?> After "Guru meditation" crash there is a log file with last line: > fatal error in recompiler cpu: Trying to execute code with memory type addr_code=00000000631b0020 addend=00007fceea68e000 at 00000000631b04fd. I upgraded my g4l image, and do testing with the latest virtualbox built from the source from the site with 4.2.16 and at least one previous version. My image has 8 kernels going back to 3.0.87 to 3.11-rc2 and they run fine under virtualbox with 5.10. Also, the memtest 4.20 runs fine, as does the HDT included with 5.10. Have not tried any of the 6.x version, but had tired some older 5.x versions, and after getting help on making changes to the syslinux.cfg file, and adding some of the additional .c32 files have had no issues. Unfortunately, don't have any efi systems to test that kind of stuff on... Thanks again for all the work...> _______________________________________________ Syslinux mailing list > Submissions to Syslinux at zytor.com Unsubscribe or set options at: > http://www.zytor.com/mailman/listinfo/syslinux Please do not send > private replies to mailing list traffic. >+----------------------------------------------------------+ Michael D.
