[syslinux] Debian bug#604245: Syslinux fails (does not receive key presses on Sony vaio Z12C5E)
Hi, Does this report ring a bell here? I didn't check, but the image should carry an isohybridized 4.02 version of isolinux. The working (lenny) version is 3.71. Thanks, Feri. -------------------- Start of forwarded message -------------------- Subject: Bug#604245: Syslinux fails Date: Sun, 21 Nov 2010 14:13:41 +0100 From: Gyorgy Jeney <nog.lkml at gmail.com> To: submit at bugs.debian.org Boot method: USB key Image version: http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/installer-amd64/current/images/hd-media/boot.img.gz Date: Nov 21. 2010, 13:40 Machine: Sony vaio Z12C5E Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU M 620 @ 2.67GHz Memory: 8Gb Output of lspci -knn (or lspci -nn): [see http://bugs.debian.org/604245] During boot, the syslinux menu appears (install, Graphical install, etc.), but doesn't respond to any key press, hence can not even boot the install kernel. Copying the initrd.gz and linux files from the above image to a lenny image (http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/lenny/main/installer-amd64/current/images/hd-media/boot.img.gz) allows the install kernel to boot and complete the installation of squeeze. -------------------- End of forwarded message --------------------

Not very specific, I'm afraid... -- H. Peter Anvin, Intel Open Source Technology Center I work for Intel. I don't speak on their behalf.
Hi, I have a machine with live CD application: syslinux boot I have to update the BIOS: I need a keyboard and an USB key (win 98 boot) with only 1 usb port :( But my usb key is not visible for boot choice behind usb hub: I need an usb keyboard to enter and configure bios... (The boot is on an inside USB key - hdd) I think the solution is to (install and) configure the internal boot to choice to boot on my external dos usb key (with autoexec.bat for bios update). How can I do that? Thanks Daniel.
