Problems with aggregate
Hello list, I'm new to this list, so please forgive my ignorance. I have searched R-help for some hints into what might be my problem, but I truly have no idea where to go from here. I have an object of approximately 15,000 rows and 2 columns. There are many duplicates in the first column, all with different corresponding values in the second column. For example (2 is duplicated):

NPTL & Wine
Hi, My main systems are Gentoo based. I am investigating switching to NPTL on one of them that uses a couple of different versions of Wine built from source. In doing the research I found that the Gentoo ebuilds for Wine use NPTL. Does this mean that if I switch to NPTL that I must recompile my source-caode based versions of Wine? If so, can someone tell my what options I would use, most likely

Strange Error -- ASterisk 1.6
All, I just noticed this in my logs, and am rather lost as to what module it pertains to. I would assume pseudo-realtime priority for the process, but I am looking for a little confirmation from the group: [Apr 28 12:28:36] WARNING[20773] asterisk.c: The canary is no more. He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in

multicore/mcparallel error
Hello everyone, I'm trying to parallelize an R script I have written. To do this, I am first trying to use the multicore package, because I've had some previous success with that. The function I'm trying to parallelize is illumqc. I'd like to create a separate process for each of 8 files, contained in the vector "files". Below is my code: for(i in

singular variance-covariance warning in lmer
Dear R Users, I was hoping for some help with a recurrent error message in lmer. I am trying to model the effect of temperature on metabolic rate in animals (response = int.length) at different temperatures (mean.sst), with repeated measurements on the same individuals (random effect = female). Ideally I would make a random slope and intercept model where the rate can change differently with

HELP...Running data
We are two french students and we have a problem concerning an exercize. We don't know how to resolve it. It would be fantastic if someone can help us. Thanks. Description: This study examined how the metabolic cost of locomotion varied with speed, stride frequency and body mass. Cost was determined by measuring oxygen consumption (?vo2?), analyzing the oxygen content in air inhaled and

Post-doc in Systems Genetics, Gagneur lab, Munich
Dear all, we seek a talented and motivated post-doc to develop computational methods for inferring the molecular basis of genetic diseases by integration of personal omics data. Research topics include: identifying causal mutations of rare disease patients by meta-analysis; inferring disease-causing molecular pathways from genotype, phenotypes, and omics profile of patient-derived cell lines

FactoMineR
Hola. Como te dijo Carlos, el problema está en los nombres de las columnas y en los nombres de las filas. Cuando hice la importación (con dd<-read.csv('mortality.csv'), tuve problemas con las filas de nombre: - Malignant tumour of the larynx trachea bronchus and lungs - Malignant tumour of the lip pharynx and mouth - Other endocrinological metabolic and nutritional conditions

volcano plot.r
Hello. My name is Akashah. i work at metabolic laboratory. From my study, i found that volcano plot can help a lot in my section.  i already studied about the volcano plot and get the coding to run in R software, unfortunately, there is may be something wrong with the coding. This is because  no graph appear, but no error (blue color text) was shown on the R console. Below is the coding for

rbinom with computed probability
Hello, I have a loop with probability computed from a logistic model like this: for (i in 1:300){ p[i]<-exp(-0.834+0.002*x[i]+0.023*z[i])/(1+exp(-0.834+0.002*x[i]+0.023 +z[i])) x and z generated from normal distribution. I get 300 different probabilities And I want to generate variables from bernulli distribution with P for every observation: T[i]<-rbinom(1,1,p[i]) But i get missing

3510 JBOD ZFS vs 3510 HW RAID
Hi there Is it fair to compare the 2 solutions using Solaris 10 U2 and a commercial database (SAP SD scenario). The cache on the HW raid helps, and the CPU load is less... but the solution costs more and you _might_ not need the performance of the HW RAID. Has anybody with access to these units done a benchmark comparing the performance (and with the pricelist in hand) came to a conclusion.

Error message for infinite probability parameters in rbinom() and rmultinom()
Dear all, Using rmultinom() in a stochastic model, I found this function returns an error message 'NA in probability' for an infinite probability. Maybe, a more precise message will be helpful when debugging. > rmultinom(1, 3:5, c(1/2, 1/3, Inf)) Error in rmultinom(1, 3:5, c(1/2, 1/3, Inf)) : NA in probability vector > rmultinom(1, 3:5, c(1/2, 1/3, NA)) Error in rmultinom(1,
