Arranging Models
I know we could arrange controllers as modules. Can we also arrange models
in modules?

As far as I can tell "numericality" is not a word. Maybe this method
should be renamed.

1.1.5 Upgrade and config.load_path not working
Hey,
I am trying to upgrade to 1.1.5 and rails no longer finds my controllers the
live outside app/controllers. I was on 1.1.2 previously and here is my
setup
In environment.rb
config.load_paths += [File.join(File.expand_path(RAILS_ROOT),
"rails_shared/controllers") ]
config.load_paths += [File.join(File.expand_path(RAILS_ROOT),
"rails_shared/helpers") ]

Three-tier
Hi Everyone,
I''m working at getting Rails introduced in my company. We''re a J2EE
shop.
Our deployments make use of thee-tiered architecture, just to be clear,
that means that there are essentially three machines involved in dealing
out an app: a webserver, an application server, and a database server.
As I see it (unless I''ve missed something) Ruby is essentially

I have just released the 0.3 revision of ActiveRecord - make sure to
get the fresh, hot packages from

RoR admin system
I''m preety new at RoR (and programming), I tried a few tutorials, and
really like the RoR simplicity, but my knowledge of the framework still
isn''t very good (to be true, i understand the basics, but not everything
that''s in the tutorials).
But still I''d like to create a website which has:
- front end interface (with no edit functions)
- admin interface

Engines & Rails 1.1.6
An excerpt from the recently-unearthed diary of Doctor Hans Zarkov:
"There''s no sun! It''s 8:24 in the morning, and there''s no sun!
There is a patch in the Engines release branch now (Changeset #415:
http://dev.rails-engines.org/repository/changesets/415), which should
work with Rails 1.1.6, and hopefully all Rails 1.1.x versions. Do you
want to live forever?

US telco lingo
Could someone explain to a non-US dummy the following phrases I have seen on
the list.
"I can provide you with tier 1 termination 6/6. I can blend or NPANXX
breakout."
"We provide US48 termination, blended rate for 1 MOU and above is .008 with
6/6."
What is 6/6?
What is US48?
What is blended?
What is MOU?
What is NPANXX breakout?

table sorting/manipulation library?
I have a library I''ve developed that I believe is the most flexible and
useful table sorting/striping/row-selecting library around.
Big features:
Single and multiple-level sort
Arbitrary sort criteria (IP address, date, etc.)
Works with table headers that are > 1 row or column large
Stripe tables and/or enable row selecting
Row selecting supports drag-select and SHIFT-click

The ALBUM, ARTIST, TITLE, and TRACKNUMBER tags aren't sufficient for

App behaves differently on Apache and Webrick
When running on the Webrick server (script/server), my app works fine.
When running on Apache 2.0.52, I get the dreaded ''unitialized constant
Merge'' error. Merge is the name of my model, the controller is
MergesController.
The deadline looms, any help appreciated!
Thanks!

Misc notes concerning view_paths
Hi all,
I''ve been playing in the trunk with putting stuff in different dirs
to keep files from a reusable framework separate from the app files.
Here are a few considerations regarding the view_paths setting:
config.view_path is used to set both action_controller.view_paths and
action_mailer.template_root. We get some buggy/unexpected behavior
here because

Rails Borked After 1.1.3 Install?
I installed 1.1.3 on my OS X Tiger machine and now I''m seeing very strange
results.
When hitting a controller action, I am told that perfectly valid methods are
not there:
NoMethodError (undefined method `find'' for VideoTrack:Module)
Huh? Here''s the code in question:

The Guilt List
I''m not a paid developer, but I still feel guilty. I thought it might

an answer to this simple question:
What makes you guilty about your Rails development?

sense, but I just don''t do it. I''ve

Ackbar - ActiveRecord Adapter for KirbyBase
= About Ackbar
Ackbar is an adapter for ActiveRecord (the Rails ORM layer) to the KirbyBase
pure-ruby plain-text DBMS. Because KirbyBase does not support SQL, joins or
transactions, this is not a 100% fit. There are some changes to the ActiveRecord
interface (see below), but it may still be useful in some cases.
