ajax question, not so basic I guess...
Hey Is there a ajax method that triggers when the page is fully loaded? I want to be able to specify which div to update, something like this: <%= on_page_loaded( :update => "generatedimage", :url => { :action => :generateimage }) %> What I''m trying to do is load a page with a animated gif image saying "custom

Javascript "please wait" image
When I used to write Perl CGI scripts I displayed an animated gif image whilst waiting for a long database query to load, and some javascript to remove the image once the content was available. I''d like to do the same thing with Rails, but it''s not clear to me how to do this in Rails. Does anyone have any suggestions? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Question:"no route found to match"
in my routes.rb, I have such url map.file '':user/:file it works well with following url: 1. jay/web 2. jay/web2 but it encounters error with: jay/web2.0 it displays : no route found to match "/post/web2.o" with {:method=>:get} I guess it is because the char ''.'' and rails can not translate it exactly. [Article] Great Browser Expectations
Hey everyone, I came back from Canada on Rails and was so inspired that I wrote an article on the plane. http://unspace.ca/discover/expectations/ It''s my attempt to distill what I have learned so far, working on AJAX applications in Rails that people will hopefully want to use. Feedback is appreciated! Pete

Syncing to vblank for interlaced video modes
Hello, I'll start by applauding your efforts to make an open source driver for nv hardware. I imagine it is a very difficult task trying to reverse engineer hardware and produce something useful and featureful. I wish to make a change to the nouveau source. You might say I am considering becoming a nouveau developer. I am one of those crazy nutters who connects my nvidia card directly to

making scatterplot easier to read
Dear R users, do you know an easy way (other than star plot) of making several points laying one over another visible? Is it any simple way of increasing such "multipoint" symbols - or shifting their positions randomly to make several points in one place visible? attribute or instance method or what?
Hi! Uhm are attributes just something like additional members of a class, other than those that come from the names of columns in the table? I''ve got images table, which has ''name'' column. I''ve added support for creating thumbnails out of uploaded pictures and i''d like to have an easy way of accessing them in my views. How to do it? I.e. my image

mixed interlaced content and ffmpeg2theora
dv file from minidv camera - interlaced. small dv created by imported jpeg images - not interlaced. seems that when I use ffmpeg2theora with deinterlace switch and reduce size, it works. But when the only reduction I am doing is to width (720x480 -> 640x480) the encoder ignores the naturally interlaced bit and uses the last de-interlaced frame. Since the small bit made from jpegs is a dv

E-mail validtor??
Does anyone have a good working e-mail validator? or even some regexp to make the validates_format_of work right... that would be awesome. Also, maybe an online tutorial for regexp. i''ve always been afraid of it but i think it''s time to face the fears. thanks! -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Hi! What is the easiest way to restrict access to some part of the page? In php i just put .htaccess and .htpasswd files in /admin folder and it worked. Now i''ve got one admin folder for controllers, one for views, public folder and i''m not really sure if it''s still possible. So what is the easiest way? I don''t have any user logging features on my site,

Problem with ruby 1.8.4 One-Click Ruby Installer on windows
Hi! Previously i had ruby 1.8.2 (One-Click Ruby Installer) installed, but the rdoc and plugindoc didn''t work, so i decided to install ruby 1.8.4. I had uninstalled ruby 1.8.2 (uninstaller deleted the whole ruby folder with radrails and everything, just great) and installed One-Click Ruby Installer 1.8.4-16 preview3. Best practice for showing ajax loader gif?
what is the best practice for showing animated ajax spinner? The usual Element.show(''spinner'') has to stick with every form''s :loading. Is there some easier or light-weight method? Because I have this page that can contain upto 100 forms. And with all of those would be 100 hidden spinners. Please suggest something. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Creating multiple rows with one form
Hello. I''ve been trying this out for the past two days and I can''t seem to get it. I''m going to have a page where you can upload x amount of images at once.
