kannel from dag - sqlite conflict with centos 4.2
I have a CentOS 4.1 box running Dag's Wieers kannel 1.4.0-3.2.el4.rf package which has a dependency on sqlite version 2.8.16-1.2.el4.rf also from Dag. If I try to up2date to centos 4.2 I'm hitting a conflict whereby 4.2 wants to install sqlite 3.2.2 - but kannel doesn't like that, reporting: Unresolvable chain of dependencies: kannel 1.4.0-3.2.el4.rf requires libsqlite.so.0 The new

Sending an SMS out of Asterisk via Kannel
GOAL: To pass variables from Asterisk to Kannel when sending out an SMS message using a URL. CURRENTLY: I am able to pass a URL via Asterisk to Kannel and out of my GSM modem BUT I haven't figured out how to include Asterisk variables in the string. I was hoping someone could help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Perhaps there is a simple AGI I should be using. I am not

ggplot, transformation, and ylim
Hey everyone, I'm having a little trouble with ggplot. I have two sets of y-values, one whose range is contained in the other. Due to the nature of the y-values, I wish to scale the y axis with a log base two transformation. Furthermore, I wish to plot the two sets of y-values as boxplots in separate graphs with the same ylim (and thus with the same ticks and tick labels). As of now, I have:

1MB/s gigabit transfers on dell poweredge
Hi, I have installed samba on a dell poweredge server. It uses integrated NetXtreme II BCM5708 Gigabit Ethernet card. My issue is that i am getting extremely slow speeds (about 1.2MB/s) on the gigabit network from linux as well as windows clients using when reading from the samba share. On the same setup (same server, client, network) using scp, rsync, nfs gives me anything between 35-50 MB/s. So

ProxyCommand commands don't exit
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've noticed that when I use ProxyCommand commands to connect, the commands do not exit when ssh exits. This results in a bunch of commands piling up on the machine over time. I experimented with four machines: linux-2.2.19+patches, openssh-3.0.1p1 linux-2.2.14+patches, openssh-3.0.1p1 freebsd-4.5-stable, openssh-2.9 localisations 20020307

bad performance Vista <-> Samba over gbit
Hi, I've a strange issue with the performance of file transfers between a Samba server and a Vista client. My configuration looks like this: fileserver: Samba 3.3 on FreeBSD 6.2 ----- gbit switch ----- workstation: Vista x64 When transfering files between the two PCs, I get abount 6.5 to 7 MB / sec. On my last Vista installation I got about 40 MB / sec. I've tried the following: -

Telemarketer Torture.... (was: Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 44, Issue 49)
You could accept as the "passcode" the caller punching in their own phone#, then checking that against your whitelist. Lets associates get past the challenge when using someone else's phone, without their remembering some arbitrary passcode. And strangers or barred old associates who abuse it can get an earful about how you're suing them for wire fraud. Preferably after you

Hacked?
This morning, I noticed in my security email, that my entire /usr/bin directory had setuid diff's set on them. I think I've been hacked. So I installed chkrootkit from ports and ran it. It showed not infected for everything, except NETSTAT. NETSTAT showed infected... I ran chkrootkit for another machine (at my office), and it showed not infected for everything. Both machines are

Nah, this is the first time I've posted here in years. Gennaly things just tick over with the application moving along in a nice straightforward manner, improvment upon improvement. Rsync is one of the mose important and usefu apps available for Linux and OS X (powered by APPLE!!!!); followed by ffmpeg and vlc (and Apache, I guess, but I don't do much of that anymore). The docs are very

Dialing patterns and "GSM" format numbers
H, Just a quick question that has been bugging me for a while..... Most of my address book phone numbers are stored in the format: +<country code><area code minus the 0><local number> i.e. +XXXXXXXXXXXX In my asterisk (Trixbox) server I would like to be able to dial numbers from my address book using HUD or the SIP client on my 3G phone using numbers in this format. TELNENT TO LOCALHOST IN CENTOS 7

The telnet protocol supports security measures, but most people

Let me start with a reference to Nazis, just so we can reach the Godwin-point and be done with it. If somebody thinks they can improve the documentation let them submit a patch. This provides something concrete for people to comment on and the maintainers can make a decision as to whether they want to make the proposed change. Until I see something in writing I've no opinion one way or

Hacked? (UPDATE)
Update, for those that want to know... The attacker used a worm or bot that tried hundreds (if not thousands) of connections through SMBD. (Samba). I was running 2.2.7. I noticed the attempts for a week, but the log file always showed "access denied" so I wasn't too worried about it. Well, obviously, one of those attempts got through... At this time, the worm (or bot) modified
