uninstal rw1030 (Win9*)
Hi all, I installed rw1031 but not uninstalled rw1030 just to make sure everything was working normally with the new version. After few weeks, I'm ready to uninstal rw1030. My question is: should I use the rw1030 unins00.exe program or could this program damage the rw1031 inatallation (perhaps modifies the registry...) ? Perhaps should I just delete the rw1030 directory? Thanks Dr.

Samba as PDC for WinXP, Win9
Simon, What version of Windows XP are you using? If your client has purchased computers from Best Buy or a similar electronics "mega-store" they likely received WinXP Home Edition. (Which is what it sounds like based upon the use of Win9x machines you mentioned.) If that is the case, then you will be unable to get the WinXP machines to see the Samba Server (or a Windows Server for that matter) as anything other then a workgroup connected server. WinXP Home Edition doesn't have the ability to connect to a Domain, it w...

Drive mappings
Hello again list! I'm attempting to use the following command in a startup batch file: net use U: \\mail\%U however when win9* runs this file on logging in, it tries to map \\mail\u Why isn't samba preprocessing this directive? (\\mail is NOT the name of the samba server doing the login authetication!) Please respond to mblinn@peopleplaces.org -- my mail client may be configured screwy with its reply-to address. Tha...

dyn.load and/or add new package (Windows 98)
Hi, I have been trying to dyn.load a library (rq.obj), which will allow me to run a quantile regression function, but so far unsuccessfully. I have tried under windows 98 and R 6.24: 1) dyn.load("d:\\...\\rq.obj") 2) dyn.load("d:\...\rq.obj") 3) 1 and 2 accounting for case sensitivity. 4) dyn.load("d:/.../rq.obj") 5) Place the files in the directory where from I

Domain question
I have a question about Samba's interaction with the PDC and SAM database on the windows domain. There are some in my company who say that Samba must read and write to the SAM databse in order to authenticate a user. This, according to them, poses a security risk in that a UNIX user could obtain tools to gain access to the SAM, retrieve all passwords and potentially corrupt the database. My

[PATCH 1/1] hv: Use only one receive buffer and kmalloc on initialize
Correct issue with not checking kmalloc return value. This fix now only uses one receive buffer for all hv_utils channels, and will do only one kmalloc on init and will return with a -ENOMEM if kmalloc fails on initialize. Thanks to Evgeniy Polyakov <zbr at ioremap.net> for pointing this out. And thanks to Jesper Juhl <jj at chaosbits.net> and Ky Srinivasan <ksrinivasan at

...ssing something huge. If anyone could help out, I would be most appreciative. I have Mandrake Linux 8.0 installed on a Compaq notebook using reiserFS. It works fine. I can get on the internet, and am using the computer right now. At home, the notebook is connected to a network containing two Win98 machines, networked through a Linksys router that provides internet access and DHCP services. At work, the notebook connects to an identical system, except there are more Win98 machines. The routers, and even the workgroup name, are identical in both locations. All of the installation instr...

...ba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba>, <mailto:samba-request@lists.samba.org?subject=unsubscribe> List-Archive: http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/samba/ I have a Frontpage Web (a whole set of file and directories) stored on our Samba Server 2.2.1. If I work on such a web within MS-frontpage 2000 (Win98 SE) and want to save a file I get a message "a more recent version of this file was saved by ME on date:now time:now" and i cannot save the file but keep getting this message. The Frontpage 2000 file locking mechanism seems to have some problems here with our samba. According to MS Sup...
