Win11 22H2 and Point'n'Print status...
I'm still using Point'n'Print, but now i'm introducing some Win11 22H2 computer, having many trouble. After the last security patchs, installing drivers was a nightmare, so i'm currently using other mean (normally, WPKG) to deploy printer driver to PC, and using Point'n'Print for printer management and configuration. But in windows 11 printers doe...

I have very few Win11 desktops but on those I searched for 8166 and came up empty yet none of those are allowing RDP. Synology's post about their fix suggests Win11 is a different KB than Win10 which surprises me but. I do see that update and will remove it now and test but this seems odd to me considering only Syno...

Samba shares and samba server residing on different physical machines
Hi fellow Members!I'm Systems administrator at a school using SAMBA 4 as AD DC. As you know, WIN11 is at the doorstep and my "old" Samba4 Server (4.9) doesn't serve Windows Servers (Server 2019) very well, e.g. the latest issue is that the domain administrator cannot access the GPO's or other informations from the Samba-LDAP (authentication failure ?). I think that it has poss...

samba 4.13.17 ubuntu 20.04
Hi everyone, I'm posting here because I'm facing a kerberos authentication problem after the 2:4.13.17~dfsg-0ubuntu1.20.04.4 samba upgrade. The clients, win10, win11, win2016 cannot login to AD anymore. On server logs the authentication succeeded but in the Event Viewer on the client I have this error: Security-Kerberos The Kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server cor-win10$. The target name used was COR-WIN10$. This indicates that...

samba idmap mystery
...and user can access it. although I feel strange but it works eventually. and with newer samba versions "getent passwd/id" seems works every time. recently I need to create a guest share to host computer group policy resource. I tried but failed and found that recent win10 enterprise/win11 deny guest share access by default. so I think maybe I can loosen samba configuration. my original idmap config at file server looks like: iidmap config *:backend = tdb idmap config *:range = 1000000-1999999 idmap config SAMDOM:backend = ad idmap config SAMDOM:schema_mode = rfc2307 idmap config S...

...ist. Did you also have the problem with https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/2:4.13.17~dfsg-0ubuntu1.20.04.2 ? The recent security update that bumped the version to 20.04.4[1] is being reverted[2], due to the regressions[3][4] reported around %U parsing. Maybe 20.04.4 also somehow broke the win11 patch? Because it was tested[5] successfully on focal. 1. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/2:4.13.17~dfsg-0ubuntu1.20.04.4 2. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/2:4.13.17~dfsg-0ubuntu1.20.04.5 3. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2003867 4. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2003891 5...

Hi all I just installed the the ADMX-fils for the Linux-GPOs. IBut when I look at the Group Policy Editor below "samba" I only see "Unix Setting -> Scripts". "smb.conf", "Messages", "sudo-files" are missing. If I take a look at the admx-file itself all the options are in the file. I uses Sernet Samba 4.18.4 on Debian 12 I already did a
