Using physical disk in HVM
Hi, guys. I''m trying to use physical disks as virtual disks in HVM domains. But I couldn''t. I''m using cs10508 of xen-unstable.hg. When I use disk = [ ''phy:sda5,ioemu:hda,w'' ] in conf file, creating HVM domain says, I need to use ''file'' modifier if I use ''ioemu''. So, I changed it to disk = [ ''phy:sda5,hda,w'' ]. But HVM window doesn''t pop up. Did you guys solve this problem? Can'&...

unexpected raid1 behavior?
...running Gentoo and have compiled the 2.6.31 kernel, enabling btrfs. Now I have 2 partitions (on 2 different sata disks) that are free for me to play with, each about 375 gb in size. I wanted to create a "raid1" volume using these two partitions, so I did: # mkfs.btrfs -d raid1 /dev/sda5 /dev/sdb5 # mount /dev/sda5 /btrfs and everything seems fine. Now what I find strange is that everything looks like a raid0 was created, not a raid1: $ df -h /btrfs/ Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda5 684G 72G 612G 11% /btrfs What am I doing (or u...

If I mount under dom0 there is no error message. Same if under 32 or 64 bit. My guess is it''s conf...

Changing mount point - 4.3
Hi A box was installed with the majority of the free space in /home but i actually want this to be available to /opt. My fstab had /home looking like this LABEL=/home /home ext3 defaults 1 2 I umounted /home and changed the fstab to look like this /dev/sda5 /opt ext3 defaults 1 2 and then mounted /opt. All works fine. My question is, is this the 'correct' way to do something like this or should i stick to 'LABEL' ? I wonder as i'm not sure where the label tag gets set and when i see the b...

Copying TBs -> error -> work around
...; rsync (or the workload) is simply triggering the problem. Thanks for the response . . Hmm . . but the drive that goes read-only is being read FROM not TO . . it is hard to see how that should be an issue? The backstory is that a relatively recent internal 8TB Seagate Barracuda had its 7.2TB sda5 (home) partition corrupted - which itself was suspicious but not impossible of course - so I had to switch temporarily to an external USB 4TB drive (which was a backup drive and was already up-to-date) for /home. So now this exercise is rsyncing back to a NEW internal 8TB Seagate Barracuda (sd...

Drive Mapping Problem & solution
Just got Wine 1.1.13 on Ubuntu 8.10 tried to map D: to my Windows partition /dev/sda5 /media/DATA but Wine wouldn't keep my choice and reverts to /media/cdrom0. Found out that permissions for ~/.wine/dosdevices/d: were root only and couldn't change them. So I deleted d: & d:: and made new symbolic links $ sudo rm -r /home/me/.wine/dosdevices/d* $ ln -s /media/DATA /...
