hello, Is there a good way of notifying all users that , say the server is going to be shut down? kinda like for a regular terminal session but through some kind of windows messaging? thanks in advance. Robert

Hi everybody, I'm setting up a Samba under RHEL 7.0, just a simple samba server. But I'm having trouble with blocking access to shares, to be specific with domain block. I'm using default config in samba.conf, just added the share's config. While blocking by network range it works. Even when some IPs in the network 172.25.0.X are subdomains of example.com, they are not blocked.

Alright, I give up. I'm going to go out in the parking lot and scream. Over the years I have built many, many versions of Samba on many versions of BSD[386,OS] and other unixen. I have never, ever had trouble like this (except, of course, with Irix). Never with a BSD. 4.2 ships with Samba 2.0.6 (why? -- 2.0.7 was released last April). PROBABLY its a problem with your reverse dns resolution. From the samba server, if you do a host 172.25.0.12 (change as appropriate) does it resolve to a hostname in the .example.com domain? Hi all, I have a problem opening file on a samba share with Word 6.0. We use samba 2.0.5a running on a HP9000/800 (HP-UX 10.20). Often when try to open file, Word stop responding for some minutes (generally from 2 to 5) and then word succed to open it. In the sambadir/var the corresponding log file is like this : [1999/09/20 17:10:52, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection(521) pc000320

\\Pettit Connect As: Password: On the server side, I didn't get far because the domain name come up NULL so it failed on that test. Below are two logs log98.txt and log2000.txt that show full debug info. I might just have a stupid configuration or installation mistakes. I am sure that my basic configuration must work since it is a very typical setup. Any help will be highly appreciated
