This old tune again : read performance optimisations
...re vanilla kernel.org version. Distro Debian squeeze amd64, samba 2:3.5.6~dfsg-3squeeze5 The client is an opteron dual core machine running Win7 64 bits. This is by far the best performing CIFS client I've tested, software wise (see below). The systems are connected in 10GigE ethernet using Myricom Myri-10G dual ports (only one port used) through a Fujitsu 10GigE switch. I first tested the same client to the same server using Linux (same configuration as the server) and netperf, then NFS, then cifs mount. Netperf (TCP_SENDFILE test) gives more than 9500 Mb/s both direction, so the netwo...

throughput of 300MB/s
Hello, are there any experiences with samba as a _really_ fast server? Assuming if the filesystem and network is fast enough, has anyone managed to get a throughput in samba of of let's say 300 MB/s ? Are there any benchmarks? regards, Martin

Is this the Myricom processor? What version(s)? This is internal hardware for us, so there's not a lot we can share, and you can't really grab a version of the hardware. If that's a problem for the community, I completely understand. Mostly, I wanted to offer to upstream this because it seems likely...

Trying to build ices-0.4 on ubuntu and "libshout not usable"
Hello: I hope someone can take a look at this and give me a little push to get me past this logjam. I've been running icecast + ices-0.4 + a perl application developed internally which runs an mp3 stream for a number of years. I am migrating my server from CentOS to ubuntu so I can upgrade to Perl 5.18 (so as to get clean unicode processing for another application.) I have installed

UNDI-3.1 support in pxelinux?
HPA et al.: Are there any plans for pxelinux to support UNDI-3.1, as defined in UEFI-2.1, appendix E? I ask because I was dismayed to see EFI systems successfully download pxelinux, only to have pxelinux exit. This was a major downer after implementing an debugging an entire EFI "UNDI" driver. Scanning pxelinux.asm, I conclude that pxelinux supports only UNDI-2.1 at the moment.
