win2k domain-less client failing to authenticate when securit y=domain
...ing that 'SATURN' is the netbios name of the win2k client machine? I'm not real clear on how this works with win2k clients... You SHOULD be able to have these clients connect by specifying in the username and password window that comes up when you fail to attach initally the username: MSOE\detertj (in your example) with the appropriate password for the detertj user account in the MSOE domain. But if you want to avoid this entirely, then you probably SHOULD add your win2k clients to the MSOE domain (if they are regular users of resources in this domain...) Hope this helps, Don -----...

win2k domain-less client failing to authenticate when security=domain
Hello, I've got a linux box running smbd & nmbd versions 2.0.6 with security = DOMAIN, and an NT4 box as the password server. The sole domain controlled by that NT4 box is named "MSOE". All is well with win98 clients. However, Win2k clients that are not part of an NT domain, but simply belong to a "workgroup" named "MSOE", are unable to authenticate. The /var/log/samba/log.%m file on the linux box says this: [2001/04/23 13:39:52, 0] smbd/pass...

winbind nss info = sfu is not so much working
with samba 3.0.22, I'm trying to integrate a linux box with Microsoft AD by using winbind for authentication as well as for the source of nss info. When winbind is configured to use its own local id maps, everything works fine. But when i configure winbind to use 'ad' as the source of nss info, authentication fails, 'getent' commands return no results, and 'wbinfo -r

problem using 'winbind nss info =' statement
When winbind is configured without the 'winbind nss info =' statement (i.e. such that winbind maintains its own local map of SIDs -> UID/GIDs), the following works fine: # cd ~detertj # getent passwd detertj detertj:x:10008:10000:detertj:/home/MSOE/detertj:/bin/bash but when i try to make winbind use sfu for the mapping of SID -> UID/GID, username lookups are failing: # cd ~detertj -bash: cd: ~detertj: No such file or directory # getent passwd detertj # However, either way, when trying to use nss info = sf...

winbind can see some groups but not others
...ps via getent or via wbinfo -g. E.g. I can see the 'ccsd-staff' group via getent and wbinfo -g, but i don't see the 'ccsd-dept-www' group via either. Within the MsAD domain of concern, those two groups are basically the same, except the one that getent finds is in ou=people,dc=msoe,dc=edu and the one that it doesn't find is in ou=unixgroups,dc=msoe,dc=edu This makes me think there's an ldap basedn problem, but then, there's no ldap config needed or used by winbind, as far as i can tell. Anyone know what's wrong or have an idea of how to debug? Thanks -- Ha...

liblame vs libmp3lame.... anyways, it don't work.
I took the latest installation of lame (both stable and beta) and installed those with the default install variables. The last one I compiled was lame3.87. I then have the ices-0.0.1.beta5 and config'd the sources with ./configure --with-perl --with-lame and installed. Yet, when I run ices -R, it complains with the following line when I run the -R option: Support for reencoding with

Hi, I've been running Icecast on my server for over five months now and am having lots of problems with it. I must have pulled out half of my hair on this product, mostly due to lack of support. (I mean, have you ever gotten an answer to your question at icecast.org?) I've tried it all: sc_serv, Icecast, shout, ices, streamcast, liveice. I could greatly use any help. I am using the

Cisco 79XX Ringers & chan_sccp
Hello: Does anyone know how to configure any of the Cisco 79XX phones to get custom ringers when using chan_sccp with Asterisk? I've currently got Asterisk's 05-24-04 CVS-HEAD and Zozo's 0.2 release of chan_sccp. I've tried using ringlist.dat, but that appears to only be for the SIP phones... Thanks for any input, Andrew
