nv40 mpeg2 video decode
Hello, I have been working on a kernel and a user layer for the nv40 mpeg2 video decoding hardware: * The decode hw accepts commands written to a fifo along with a set of registers for firing (put) and queries (get). * The fifo can be mapped in vram or agp (though, agp isn't working right now). * The fifo does not support dma jumps and such like the 3d fifo. Well, I...

Errors during vdpau mpeg2 decoding
Hi Maarten, I'm seeing these prints, which feel like they're accompanied by bad frames: 0x7f7fcb29ab70 is not a real ref: -0.011 72712/72709 0% 35% 1.0% 0 0 This comes from if (dec->refs[idx].vidbuf != refs[i]) { debug_printf("%p is not a real ref\n", refs[i]); // FIXME: Maybe do m2mf copy here if a application really depends on it?

Intro & Chrome v. 65.0.33.25.181
Hi there, Any other versions of Google Chrome and all version of other browsers are working. I have done my best to set up the intro to match the live stream. http://185.139.168.34:8000/yleisohjelma - intro is 256 kbits/s 48 kHz ISO-MPEG2 L3 - live is 256 kbits/s 48 kHz ISO-MPEG2 L3 http://185.139.168.34:8000/vara - live is 128 kBits/s 48 kHz, possible ISO-MPEG2 L3 - there is no intro Of cause there is a certain difference between a file and a stream. looking for a package
I'm trying to update a workstation, and it wants to update mpeg2-utils. But that has a dependency of libmpeg2-0.5.1-3, for i386. epel doesn't have it, and I tried looking on rpmfusion.org, and I can only find a very few packages there. Anyone have an idea which of the regular repositories carries libmpeg2? mark

Video Codecs, Video Editing and Wine
...t;play" button for the preview, the initial frame plays for about two seconds, the screen then goes black and then, at the end of the preview, the last frame shows as a still image. I'm pretty sure I'm up against a codec situation. I learned tonight that windows does not come with MPEG2 codecs and that Edit Studio uses windows and DirectX codecs--I don't know which ones yet. The "Developers-Hints" describes msvideo.dll and msrle32.dll as "video codecs" and the "Wine Developer's Guide" describes msvfw32.dll as a "32-bit windows video...

why HLS/DASH are problematic in an Icecast context
...hile .ogg and .opus support sample-accurate cuts and cross-lapping for gapless transitions between arbitrary segments, mp3 and aac do not. Moreover, part of the point of HLS was to support bitrate switching for video, so there's an additional synchronization constraint. As I understand it, the mpeg2-ts and related restrictions on audio segmentation come from these constraints this. Unlike mp4, and like ogg, mpeg2-ts doesn't have a seek table, so it's a better format for splicing. It's probably also all Apple wanted to implement. One thing I think icecast could do in this space is...

microdrive-based camcorders
...l be capable of recording one hour of DVD-quality video. Two models, the GZ-MC100 and GZ-MC200 in JVC's Everio family, will be introduced worldwide in October. Both are equipped with a 10x optical zoom and a 2.12 megapixel CCD image sensor and a 4-Gbyte Microdrive card. JVC helped develop MPEG2 compression technology. Making use of its internal technology, the company developed a new MPEG-2 codec chip using a 130-nm process. The 15-mm chip is the smallest codec chip, said Namiki, capable of compressing video at 8.5 Mbps in ultrafine mode. A 4-Gbyte Microdrive can record about 60 minut...

Quality of vp3.2 codec?
How good is the video compression in vp3.2? For example, how does it compare (bit rate & quality) to mpeg1, mpeg2, Divx, real Video 8+, Windows Media, etc. etc. It being open source is nice and all, but if it can't be reasonably competitive then there isn't much point to it. I just haven't seen anything that compares vp32 to anything else. (Although to be honest, I haven't seen much on honest...

GSOC '08 hardware accelerated video decoding
...who want the 3D features. I've read through jb17bsome's notes on XvMC and I think all the work he's done so far is a great head's up on what's involved. I've also read through the VAAPI page and I think that would also be a great feature to try and support given all the non-MPEG2 video content out there, it would probably entice even more people to use nouveau. The only thing I'm concerned about at this point is that the only Nvidia hardware I currently have is a GeForce FX GO 5200, so I'm not sure how much help I could really be given the limited features of that...

A/V sync in Theora
Hi, I've been thinking about how a Theora encoder could be integrated into mencoder or transcode and I'm not sure whether I understand the A/V sync strategy of Theora/Vorbis correctly. When transcoding from some video format (ie MPEG2 or DivX), at least some images of the video stream will have time stamps, as well as the fragments of the audio stream. Or at least time stamps can be generated somehow (AVI is said to be somewhat weird...). The player would compare those time stamps to get the A-V delay and adjust playback spe...
