habtm vs. has_many/belongs_to
In AWDWR David says (pg 232), "When a Join Wants to Be a Model: While a many-to-many relation with attributes can often seem like the obvious choice, it?s often a mirage for a missing domain model. When it is, it can be advantageous to convert this relationship into a real model and decorate it with a richer set of behavior. This lets you accompany the data with methods. As an example, we could turn the articles_users relationship into a new model called Readin...

iPlanet Bug and PDC Problem
Hey Guys, Ok, I've got a 2.2.9pre3 Samba box compilied with LDAP. I had to use 2.2.9cvs cause 2.2.8a has some bug with iPlanet that doesn't allow it to compilie properly.... Anyway, I've got a 2.2.8 box setup with: security = server password server = mirage (the 2.2.9 Solaris box) so when I try to loggin to the domain that the 2.2.8 box serves I get an error saying the username/password pair doesn't exist... Its like its not even talking to the 2.2.9 box... Here is the log with level 2... Any ideas? Also, I'd apprecite a reply with a CC di...

xenstore stubdom on Xen 4.2.1 (XSM/FLASK problem)
Hello all, I am trying to get a xenstore/oxenstore (oxenstore is mirage based) stubdom to get to work on Xen 4.2.1. I know that I need to set XSM/FLASK rules and so I have compiled 4.2.1 with XSM and FLASK. I already talked with Daniel de Graaf (on the mailinglists) and Steven Maresca on IRC about this thing. Daniel already wrote a XSM/FLASK ruleset in this thread: h...

Testing for the Xen Project
...views. Also the Advisory Board members who provide the funds, will also have specific interests that they will push for. Thus, in all likelihood, we will have to find a good enough compromise. * The vast majority of Advisory Board members care about the Hypervisor (and not so much about XAPI and Mirage OS). Thus, it is likely that the focus of the test system would be the Hypervisor. So let me try and condense some of the arguments and opinions I heard and information that is around. This list may be incomplete. == Work Flow == I added this section, because some members of the community and...

[PATCH 00/28] libxl: ocaml: improve the bindings
The following series of patches fill in most of the gaps in the OCaml bindings to libxl, to make them useful for clients such as xapi/xenopsd (from XCP). There are a number of bugfixes to the existing bindings as well. I have an experimental version of xenopsd that successfully uses the new bindings. An earlier version of the first half of the series was submitted to the last by Ian Campbell on

Render -> ActionController -> Render -> ...
Hi Guys, ActiveRecord is great for being able to drill down through many tables. I often locate the very "top" record, and have a render :action => "show" display that top record. Often I want to drill down like: @kingdom.phylums.classes.orders.each do |order| render :partial => "order/show" end But, depending on the user who is logged in, they see a
