Issue with LVM and iSCSI lun
Hi all, Imagine the following situation, you have : - one ISCSI storage server providing : lun0 and lun1 - the lun0 and lun1 contains a standard installation of Fedora : VM1 and VM2 - the standards installations define two VG VolGroup00 ... We didn't define LogicalVolume on the node and we attached directly the iSCSI lun to the VM without making partition or LV in Ovirt. On the node that...

ZFS Storage Pool advice
...NS. Now how would ZFS be used for the best performance? What I''m trying to ask is if you have 3 LUNS and you want to create a ZFS storage pool, would it be better to have a storage pool per LUN or combine the 3 LUNS as one big disks under ZFS and create 1 huge ZFS storage pool. Example: LUN1 200gb ZFS Storage Pool "pooldata1" LUN2 200gb ZFS Storage Pool "pooldata2" LUN3 200gb ZFS Storage Pool "pooldata3" or LUN 600gb ZFS Storage Pool "alldata" -- This messages posted from opensolaris.org

Cannot exec program from network drive after 10 minutes
Hi list, following (very strange) problem: An ordinary windows user has mapped a drive F: on \\LUN1\Programme (running samba-3.0.20b-3 debian). The program "F:\Network\PMail V3\Pegasus Mail\winpm-32.exe" is being started, this works. But after about 10 minutes, the same program start fails with "invalid path or filename". When accessing the F: drive via Windows-Explorer, t...

Proxy IMAP/POP/ManageSieve/SMTP in a large cluster enviroment
...wich moves from node to node in a case of failure. - Recommended scalable method for partition divition. - Directory Hashing(How it actually works the theory behind this), we see the wiki but we need to understand the theory to balance the directory structure. - Using some criteria ex Lun1(a-h users), Lun2(i-m users).... - Proxy or Director is a must for a Clustered Filsystem or for the solution of a user belonging to one server. - In case we use a Proxy with dovecot we know we can use it with IMAP/POP but are not sure for ManageSieve and more important for SMTP. The question...

Export ZFS via ISCSI to Linux - Is it stable for production use now?
Hello, I want to setup an opensolaris for centralized storage server, using ZFS as the underlying FS, on a RAID 10 SATA disks. I will export the storage blocks using ISCSI to RHEL 5 (less than 10 clients, and I will format the partition as EXT3) I want to ask... 1. Is this setup suitable for mission critical use now? 2. Can I use LVM with this setup? Currently we are using NFS as the
