Linux box talks to XP Pro, XP Pro permissions denied on LinuxBox
My linux box can see, browse, and copy files from an XP Share. However, when
I try to access the box either via its network name (\\linuxbox
<file:///\\linuxbox> ) or by ip address (\\192.168.1.231
<file:///\\192.168.1.231> ) Windows shows me an error stating I don't have

using feature from applicationmap while ringing in queue
Hello fellow asterisk users,
I'm trying to use feature application defined in application map.
it's defined as follows:
lbxvml => 1,self/caller,Macro,Jump2Voicemail
It's working properly when called party answers the call, but I'd
like to have feature usable while call is still ringing in queue
but this just does not work..
Is this a bug or feature? Is there a way to have

further problems with OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 on RH 6.2
I'm finding another problem with OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 on RH 6.2 (at least,
I think it's the linux box that is the problem).
I'm ssh'ing to a RH 6.2 box from a Solaris 7 server (scp also... seems
like the same problem).
I'm using authorized_keys and identity.pub files to do it automagically,
and all works well when it's from user to user, where the username is the
same, but if

A different Win98 password problem
I can not get a laptop to running Win98 to mount samba shares on a Linux
box, and I don't think it's the normal encrypted password problem. Here's
the setup:
Linux box has a class B ethernet connection to the internet and a class C
connection to the laptop.

Stumped at "Network Neighbourhood", Samba server is visible, but it's path can't be found ...
Hi all,
I can see the RH7.3 linux box I've configured with the latest
Redhat RPM samba package in the Windows 2000 network
neighbourhood, but when I double click the W2000 computer
icon I get the message
"\\Linuxbox is not accessible,
The network path was not found."
The network is a small switched lan, sadly with only one unix
box (RH7.3) and a mixture of Windows2000 and 98

Linux box talks to XP Pro, XP Pro permissions deniedon LinuxBox
Let's keep this on list please...
See if you can connect as samba user from samba box...
smbclient -L WHATEVER_YOUR_SERVER_NAME -U Administrator
smbclient -L WHATEVER_YOUR_SERVER_NAME -U Michael
but note - casing is rather odd and might be your problem. UNIX is case
sensitive but Windows/Samba is not case sensitive...
therefore Samba will see 'Michael' as 'michael' and

Can find linuxbox using "find" but not in neighborhood.
In windoz I can using "find computer" to find linuxbox, and windoz do indicate
that it is in the specified workgroup. Also I can access it.but I can't find it

How are you ?

Any ideas what this is ?
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

Old linuxbox as BwM
Hello,
I''m playing with tc, htb, and other QoS features on an old pc I have.
The PC runs, by now, a shrinked version of Debian Woody, with patched
versions of kernel 2.4.18 and iproute in order to support HTB.
What i''m wondering is if with a AMD 100Mhz (stealed from a museum ;-),
16Mbps RAM i can do bandwidth management to 20 network hosts, which
connect wirelessly (not all,

two printers: one works ok in w9x/2k, other printer unavailable in Win98 BUT ok in w2k!
Hi all,
I try to explain my strange Samba problem: I've done a linuxbox with
Mandrake 8.2 distro; installed Samba 2.2 packages and two printers attached
via parallel port: one works with the motherboard built-in parallel port,
the other is connected via a pci parallel port card. Both works fine on
win2000 clients (and on the linuxbox, too :); on windows 98 clients, both
printers are

cannot get a list of Win2000/NT shares using SMBCLIENT -L with anonymous login
Hi folks,
From my RedHat Linux box Im using
smbclient L
to obtain the list of
shares on a particular computer in the network. I use
guest
as user
name or just omit the user name.
I can get the list of shares on every single Linux or Win9X machines in
the network but I cannot obtain the list of shares on Win2000 and Win NT
machines.
Here is what I tried:

Large (3000+ users) NT to Samba migration
Hi guys and girls,
A client of mine is seriously investigating migrating their 7 NT servers and
3000+ users to Linux running Samba.
I've read one or two documents so far about the migration, but I'm still a
little unclear about a number of things.
When you have a chance I'd really appreciate your guidance on the following
items.
1.) LDAP, /etc/passwd or MySQL backend (if supported).

Problem with configurable Linux as a PDC with Windows 2000 clients
I was attempting to setup my Linux box as a PDC but have met some problems along the way....
I am using RH8 which carries samba 2.2.5.
I have a testbed with 1x Linux box, 1x Windows 2000 Professional (client). I have checked connectivity between the two pcs with a ping from both ends.
I followed the instructions suggested by "Samba Unleashed", configuring the smb.conf as follows:

Samba clients can't see partitions mounted via loop device from image files
Is there something special about filesystems mounted via
the loop device, which prevents Samba from sharing them?
I have a small LAN with several PCs on it. It has a
few Windows machines, and a Linux machine running
Mandrake 10 (kernel 2.6.3), which shares out its root
("/") read-only as "c".
(Temporarily, for testing, it is shared with full write
permissions, which I know

Netbios name resolution with DHCP
I have a network with RH7.2 (netbois name "server"), Mandrake 8.1
("Linuxbox"), Smoothwall ("Smoothwall"), WinNT ("di-bosco"), Win 98

Smoothwall is the DHCP server.
Why would it be that all the Windows machines can ping to a netbios name, eg
ping server, ping Linuxbox
