Code Page Problem with samba 1.9.18p4?
I am running samba version 1.9.18p4 on a sinix machine (unix svr4).
My NT workstations use the german code page 850.
In earlier versions of samba (1.9.17p2) the character mapping worked
just fine, using
character set = iso8859-1
client code page = 850
in my smb.conf.
Since upgrading to samba 1.9.18p4 this don't work any more.
Is this a known problem?
I tripple-checked my smb.conf entries,

1.9.18p4 broke charset latin1
Hi!
updated to p4 the other day, and now the "character set = iso8859-1"
option doesn't work anymore. I didn't change anything in the smb.conf
file but this:
unix password sync = True
time server = yes
and it worked in 1.9.18p3 :/
Has anyone else seen this?
Samba runs on FreeBSD 2.2.6 from the ports collection. (I don't think
that password sync works for this

Re-map Portion of Ruby Heap Holding Optree to Save Child Server Memory?
...applied to far more of the
memory than I expect. (I expect the stack to be private, and a bit of
process-malloc''ed heap).
The pmap of a running mongrel says that by far the bulk of the memory
immediately following launch is mapped anon / private for
libruby.so, 23M
libnkf.so 6M for kanji
libsyck.so 7M for yaml
I guess that is because Ruby is a dynamic language, and always allows for a
running proc to modify the optree itself (''monkey patching''). So, in
contrast to a compiled binary where the program code is all in the text seg,
Ruby keeps the ''partly...

httx, iiimf, and Japanese input still not working
Japanese input - the final frontier. This is the last obstacle before I
can work completely within Centos and be free of Windows.
But it's still not working.
To cut to the chase, in my quest to get Japanese working, I came across
the following:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-i18n-list/2004-November/msg00030.html
... where someone says:

[PATCH] Mac OS X: Link iconv in libhivex
...ges/large' with hivexml.
It took careful iconv autotool additions to get compilation working in
Fedora as well, but these two lines build and run on OS X 10.6 and
10.8, and Fedora 17 and 18.
Unfortunately, a separate issue is revealed here in OS X, as some of
the hivexml value data appears as Kanji. However, that is an issue
distinct from getting the program to run.

Chinese segmentation
hello, I have finished reading the papers, and i think it is time to design
my project.
First step will be determine the input characters are Chinese. i see the
past post that cjk-tokenizer is just dealing with UTF-8 and unicode, but i
see some other code system such as gbk and big5. i am wondering that should
i just deal with UTF-8 and unicode?

Large file stream extended attribute support
Hi list,
Does Samba support large extended attributes? By this I'm referring to
attributes that are alternate streams attached to a file.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa364404%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
Seeing a problem when the referenced stream points to large files (sometimes
3M+).
Thanks for the help,

1.9.5 Release
...quivalent of SDL.set_video_mode(),
except that it''ll basically be using a Panel, and internal methods for
retrieving the data from the SDL Surface, and drawing it to the Panel, along
with some more utilization and integration of more of the SDL Classes
available, such as MPEG, BMFont, TTF, Kanji. I''m even thinking that this
would actually be best suited to be a separate package all together,
avoiding wxSugar and wxRuby, so as to allow the sdl.so extension to be
re-distro''ed with the package.
What do you guys think of this?
