unique
Hello everybody, I've got a problem concerning the function unique. I have got a data.frame "shopdata" with 1000 shop which were evaluated at different points in time. With function subset I chose those shops with more then 10 employee and store it in data.frame "bigshopdata" with 700 shops. bigshopdata=subset(shopdata, shopdata$employee>10) Now I use

LDA vs. LMTP
Hi there, I'm using Dovecot together with Postfix; as I understand it, there are two ways to transfer the mail from Postfix to Dovecot. 1.) by using LDA with mailbox_command = /usr/libexec/dovecot/dovecot-lda -f "$SENDER" -a "$RECIPIENT" 2.) by using LMTP with mailbox_transport = lmtp:unix:private/dovecot-lmtp (currently using number 1) I'm interessted in the

Expunge (?)
Hi, I don't know if this is the correct term. Let me elaborate. From time to time, I want to expunge (?) the mail folder so that users' Trash'd mails don't occupy space. So, here are my questions: 1. Is this the correct term? 2. Is it a Good Idea? to do it? Thanks, -- mto

[Bridge] Measuring Bridge Performance (+ebtables/iptables)
...servers. Starting with one server and ending up with all machines sending and receiving. On the bridge I used vnstat and iptraf to measure the throughput. I also wrote a perl script which is reading the device counters from /proc to calculate an average. On my search I found this, which is pretty interessting, but I don't have an Ixia testing device. http://facweb.cti.depaul.edu/jyu/Publications/Yu-Linux-TSM2004.pdf Is it worth to rent such a device or are there any good ways to create a similar setup? Why I'm not satisfied with my tests? There's a production setup running, which is working...

c2d E6600 + $ GB RAM fits?
...ebian 4.0 (etch) in order to have Win XP, OpenSolaris, FreeBSD, NetBSD as guest os. Could you tell me if tell following hardware will fit fore this purpose (system is used for development)? Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, 4 GB RAM, 4x WD 1600AAJS (RAID 0+1), ASUS EN7600 Top Silent/HTD It would also be interessting for me if it will sufficent work (preformance) if I do video editiing (min-dv, mpeg2 etc.) on Win XP as a guest os. kind regards, Oliver _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

optimal factorial designs
...ently I used Design Expert for some Design Of Experiment work. I was happy with the interface to select which effects I want to see in my experiment, and which not. For example: I can select of course my main effects, but also if I want to see interaction A:B, B:C, A:B:C,but not A:C. This was very interessting as you can end up with fewer runs, especially in cases of 10 factors with 2-3 levels. Is there a way to do this with R? I found the AlgDesign package, and I tried optFederov and optMonteCarlo, as you can set a formula (like: A+B+C+A:B+B:C+A:B:C). But while using this, I end up with to much runs, s...

the EXTRAVERSION problem in dh-kpatches...
... is actually old & very well known by the maintainer! there is a bug report for exactly this that is 3 years and 124 days old! http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=165505 I can also add my report to this bug and mention that we need a fixed version for our xen packages, but as it looks for me (at the moment) the maintainer is not really interessted in getting this

Channel coupling
Unfortunately nobody has answered to my question about the channel mapping. :-( Are there any new ideas how save the channel mapping in multichannel vorbis streams? In addition it might be interessting thinking about using channel coupling for storing the same content in different langauges (because many things like background music are supposed to be the same). But there would be the same problem: how to indicate the the channel mapping. Best regards, Tobias --- >8 ---- List archives: http...

Making DOS/Win9x HD Image for memdisk
...d DOS on a 100MB HD from a floppy -bootet Linux over PXE [DamnSmallLinux] -in terminal: dd if=/dev/hda of=dos.img This image [dos.img] isn't working! Memdisk loads the Image and boots the HD! The error message is something like this: I/O Device Error... Replace disk and press any key The interessting thing is that this message appears in German and the only german thing in this VM is the dos installation. I tried to use raw or bigraw mode, but this doesn't solve the problem. I tried also to create the image like this: dd if=/dev/hda of=dos.img bs=512 count=[number of sectors] thx in ad...

Debugging system load - How to start?
Hi, we run an "old" mailserver system which was set up a couple of years ago. The systme dose "everything" what we need(ed). Over the last days I noticed an unnormal increase of the system load up to 10 and lots of users told me that there mailclient connections (sending and receiving) are dropped from time to time. I was planing to exchange the server respectively distribut

rc15 dumped core
...'mremap_anon' have never been seen before. Actually '1164206080' looks very much like a timestamp, differing 75223 seconds from the time of the crash ... spooky I will start running the supplied code for memory debugging on this user and I enclose a back trace from the crash. The interessting stuff from the back trace is probably that hdr (and so cache->hdr) is 0xffffffff so that hdr->continued_record_count gives no sense (Cannot access memory at address 0xb) but cache->index->map->records_count is 320 Still on this and another server running rc15 (Sol5.8), we have thous...

Does anyone know of an IAX softphone in Java, whether applet or application? Even the most minimum featureset, just voice and dialing, or even embedded in some other app/let. Preferably GPL. Thanks. -- (C) Matthew Rubenstein

logcheck-database -- volatile?
A new archive was announced for packages that have need for frequent changes [see below]. In theory, we should not have to update logcheck rules in Sarge, because we know that it's packages, with the exception of security updates will remain constant. This does not change the fact that we may wish to update the database on sarge <: Any thoughts? -Todd ----- Forwarded message from

The interessting file is the final target, e.g. /etc/ssl/private/ssl-cert-snakeoil.key if that is no symlink as well, and the permissions of all directories to it. For instance, Debian uses the perms for the private dir: drwx--x--- 2 root ssl-cert 4096 Jul 4 2012 /etc/ssl/private/ I think it looks the same o...
