...titute 1 NUMA node so you can have (1) 4vCPU VM with most of the
RAM of the entire server. 2 Intel Xeon x55xx constitute 2 NUMA nodes
so you can up to the vCPU count of the number of available cores in a
socket and up to the available RAM directly controlled by that socket.
If we had 2 Intel Xeon E5530 with (6) 8GiB DIMMs, the best we could
do for a single VM on this otherwise idle host is 4vCPUs and 22-24 GiB
RAM.

My "trouble" server is IBM HS-22 (2x Xeon E5530, 36 GB RAM, LSI SAS).
The same configuration works correctrly on other machine (supermicro-based).
But this is not "bad hardware" trouble - i tried two different HS-22

lots of small files in a folder on Linux centos
...hat a folder which includes a large amount of files causes a server
to under-perform.
the coder is not tech savvy as one might expect, so it's really hard
for me to explain the issue of having lots of files in one folder to
the site owner or to the coder.
the hardware is a decent machine dual E5530 24RAM with six hard drives in raid.
the virtual server has 2GB of ram and it's own CPU share ( 4 cores 8 threads ).
the coder is arguing with facts sadly to say he has the site owner on
"his side".
long story short, how should i explain in the most simple way in plain
english that ha...

mostly cached until you hit about 16,000 messages(files) on GFS2 and
some people are insisting on 32k+ files in one folder with the odd few
trying 65k or more (I'm surprised their clients don't break).
For info sake: we have Dovecot running on a pair of dedicated dual E5530
(quad-core X86 1300MHZ FSB cpu) servers (RH cluster+GFS2) with 24Gb RAM
apiece and ~2TB of 8Gb/s san-attached storage available.
There are only ~250 accounts but there's around 600Gb in the maildir
folder areas and another 300Gb in a separate dedicated inbox area - and

CPU high usage
...ill i better off in using other binding? e.g. python?
Will i better off in using distributed search?
My goal is to optimize the search, while the doc size will grow to very
big,e.g. 100M+
My testing suit is using:
Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
8G ram
1x 10krpm WD HD
My live servers:
Dell R710
2x E5530 2.4G
24G RAM 1333MHz
8x 73G 15K RPM SAS raid 0

Hi Gene,
Thanks for your explanation. Today I did two more tests here. All were
done with Syslinux 6.03-pre6.
First one is for the real machine (Lenovo X2...
