...to SuSE 7.1 *** WITH THE 2.4 KERNEL *** these problems disappeared. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone ever found a resolution to this problem (going back to WinNT40 or Win98 is not an option per my boss). TIA for any help/suggestions Charles Marcus I.T. ...that is). Otherwise, this will put a MAJOR delay in my Win2K->Linux conversion project for our network, and this would be a definite 'not-good' as far as my boss's already skeptical attitude toward making this change. OK, need some help with Win2K clients real bad
Hi everyone, OK, this is driving me nuts, and I'd really appreciate some help from those who are intimately familiar with the way the Locks, etc work with Win2K clients... We have an ACT database that is shared among about 25 Users, all Win2K clients. I have tried and tried and tried again to move this database over to my Linux (Redhat 7.0 with almost all 7.1 patches) server running SAMBA,

samba as client, adding to browse list
Well, I've poked around the documentation without any success... I've got several samba servers running, but I've never been required to deal with Samba as a client on a workstation until now. The workstation is RH 7.2, Samba-common 2.2.1a and it's on a LAN with a 2.2.0 server and a pile of winXX workstations (no NT). KDE is the X environment. I needed to get linpopup going to

msdfs
Hello, Last week I submitted a problem with msdfs on samba. I didn't receive any reaction. I've also tried the samba-cvs version but this has also problems. We really like to use msdfs from samba, because we want to put all our homedirectories ( more than 4000 ) in one dfsroot. This is not possible with Microsoft's dfs because this has a limit of 1000 .... I didn't found this

Now I'm trying to configure WinXP pro boxes, I've already managed to connect them to the domain, but I'm having very weird problems using Office 2K and Windows Messenger. When I logon using an

SWAT 'Help' problem...
Hi all, I'm having trouble with the help in SWAT... If I am using Netscape (4.76) for SWAT, everytime I click on 'Help' for one of the options, it opens the Main help file, and jumps all the way to the bottom, instead of jumping to the appropriate section. If I am using Mozilla (0.8), it opens at the top, then the 'Sending request to localhost' progress bar in the bottom

LDAP and Secure Authentication Techniques
Hi, Is there a good how-to(s) or book(s) that describes all of the different parts that can be used for Secure Network/Application (i.e. Samba, mail and/or SQL database Account) Authentication, and when/why you should use certain pieces? Preferably some references that don't presume too much about my Linux/Unix knowledge level? E.g., how do ldap, pam, sasl, ssl, nss, etc etc etc all
