Douglas,
It sounds like you have an UPS which was originally manufactured by Microsol.

Bruno,
Does your UPS show up as a USB ACM device in FreeBSD? Do you think that you and Douglas have the same basic UPS with different battery capacities?

Unable to set up a "serial-over-USB" UPS (APC BZ2200BI-BR)
Dear NUT users/developers,
I'm having trouble while trying to configure the UPS APC BZ2200BI-BR[1] in NUT,
which despite having a USB cable it apparently communicates using the serial
protocol.
The relevant output of 'lsusb' is:
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 051d:c812 American Power Conversion
The device is registered as /dev/ttyACM0 and uses the kernel module 'cdc_acm'

Anybody knows what configure command settings FreeNAS use to compile NUT?

What Douglas can do is to patch the solis executable in
/usr/local/libexec/nut/solis inside freenas, with the patches that I have
posted in the forum:
This will work for FreeNAS last version 9.2.1.5.

One question I have thought is this: What triggers the drive to send
the shutdown command?
I am curious because this server draws about 600W and this model of UPS
should only last about 10min under that load and I need 3 minutes to
shutdown 20 guest VMs.
Thanks,
Dave

How to determine the power draw on TDM2400P?
For example, how much power would a server with 3 of the TDM2400P fully
loaded cards draw?
We're trying to figure out what APC power we should have to achieve
approx 30 minutes back-up time.
Would appreciate any learnings or methods on calculating the power draw
and determining the appropriate back-up device.
Thank you.
Melisa.

I am trying to finish building a system and I kind of need to pick
working NIC and onboard SATA chipsets (video is not a big deal - I can
get a silent PCIe card for that, I already know one which works great)
I need 8 onboard SATA. I would prefer Intel CPU. At least one gigabit
port. That''s about it.

Recommendations for consumer-grafe GPSes?
2. Recommendations?
My use case is pretty typical. I have one Linux machine I want to
protect, automated shutown is desirable, blackouts longer than a
hour are very rare at my location (the last one I can remember was
in 1993), brownouts are very rare and mild, but summer thunderstorms
are common and can be severe. I'm a good match for your typical
consmer-grade UPS.

with it is part of the goal. I had some hobby money to spend, but not
infinite. I wanted to reuse things I had on hand or could get easily for
v1. I also get to decide how reliable it needs to be.
The system is:
* AIMS Pure Sine 12V 600W Inverter. I had it already. Having this inverter
on hand drove the decision for 12V vs 24/48V. Also, power needs are
relatively low so 12V doesn't lead to more than 55A of current, and that's
only when charging from a deep discharge.
* RV Converter/Charger: PowerMax PM4 55A 12V. This is a...

Best use of 4 drives?
I''m putting together a NexentaOS (b65)-based server that has 4 500 GB drives on it. Currently it has two, set up as a ZFS mirror. I''m able to boot Nexenta from it, and it seems to work ok. But, as I''ve learned, the mirror is not properly redundant, and so I can''t just have a drive fail (when I pull one, the OS ends up hanging, and even if I replace it, I have to
