Speedup windows client [was] What is the maximum speed for download from a samba share
As counter example. My slowest server, AMD E350 2 core, max 1.6Gz. On 1Gb lan, disk 2x 5400rpm software raid 1 + 1 ssd. Copy Speed 115Mb/s as in max 1Gb bandwith, from a win7 and win10 pc to the raid1. File sizes. 100Mb+ get max 115Mb/s to a 4MB blocksized partition. 1-10mb files ,max 90-115Mb/s to a 1MB blocksized partition. 0.0-1mb files ,max 60-100Mb/s to a 4k blocksized partition. bandwidth aggregation between 2 hosts in the same subnet
...----- | ----- -------- | My goal is to increase the bandwidth for a single tcp session between the two hosts for a backup job (per packet round robin?), not for multiple connections between many hosts. I know that I won''t get 2 x 115Mb/s because of packet reordering, but 20-30% more that a single connection would be ok. I followed different HowTOs http://www.lartc.org/howto/lartc.rpdb.multiple-links.html#AEN298 http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.loadshare.html or something like: ip route...equalize via... but I never got a higher t...

slow throughput on 1gbit lan
Hello, I'm trying to squeeze out maximum possible transfer between two Samba 3.3.1 servers. Both servers and switch supports jumbo frames, network link and disks does not appear to be bottleneck, between these two servers FTP transfer rates are about 115MB/s (1gbit link is saturated at this point) - and I'd like to see similar transfer from Samba (now I get half of it). 10.0.0.5 # wget ftp://10.0.0.2/1G 100%[=================================================================================================================>] 1,048,576,000 118M/...

Tunning samba for better read performance

samba 4.x slow ...
just to verify basic facts: Did you cross check vie network sniff, on which SMB protocol versions Server + Win 7 clients agree ? Or did you pin down via registry ? AFAIK only starting with win 8 or win 10 clients you could ask with powershell, which protocol version is in use. Did you also cross check samba logs for a name resolution issue ( windows names, not DNS) if one of your boxes is an

slow speeds with Windows 10
I was transferring a file from a (slow) smbd server running on some NAS. The transfer speed is only 1MB/s but the NAS uses 100% CPU. Normally the NAS can handle 60MB/s download (from the NAS). Could it be that the connection uses encryption or something? What could be causing this slow speed? I have internet download speeds over this same connection surpassing 5MB/s. I cannot imagine why

gplpv driver correctly supports 9GB RAM in Windows 32bit?
Hello I have Debian Linux 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 Xen 4.0.1, 2 SAS drives in RAID 1, 16GB ram. I have virtualized Windows 2003R2 32bit where you install the latest version 0.11.0.295 gplpv After reading and reading forums and post testing, I noticed that the hard disk performance drops significantly when I assign the windows domU 9GB ram. (below I leave the config files) If I run the

bad iscsi performance after upgrade to CentOS 7.2
hi all, after i upgraded a physical server (SUN FIRE X4170) from CentOS 6.8 to 7.2 i am not able to get the same iSCSI read performance. the server is connected to HP P2000 Storage via 2 x 1GbE Ethernet. CentOS 6.8 gives me full read performance on raw iSCSI devices /dev/sdxx at 115MB/s. CentOS 7.2 allows only 90-100MB/s, read performance varies and is not stable like for 6.8 the multipath performance on 7.2 is even worse. CentOS 6.8 allows to read a full speed and stable 220MB/s. CentOS 7.2 maximum was 140MB/s after i disabled readahead for multipath devices in tuned. btw. i...
