[Samba] same netbios aliases on multiple servers
Hi Can I set the same netbios name on multiple servers? more precisely why it does not work? server A [global] netbios name = FS1 netbios aliases = fs fs.example.ru server B [global] netbios name = FS2 netbios aliases = fs fs.example.ru

You are trying to set the same 'netbios aliases' on both Samba servers and, for the same reasons as the 'netbios name', this is not allowed. Rowland

if for the server to create an additional DNS name, then when opening the server by this name, an access error occurs. 10.10.2018 15:58, Rowland Penny via samba пишет:> On Wed, 10 Oct 2018 15:39:32 +0500 > Шигапов Денис Вильданович via samba <samba at lists.samba.org> wrote: > >> Hi >> >> Can I set the same netbios name on multiple servers? > No, except on ctdb > >> more precisely why it does not work? > Because the netbios name is also the Samba servers short hostname and > you cannot have two computers with the same name. > >> >> server A >> >> [global] >> netbios name = FS1 >> netbios aliases = fs fs.example.ru >> >> server B >> >> [global] >> netbios name = FS2 >> netbios aliases = fs fs.example.ru > Having said all that, you do have different netbios names (I do hope > the two machines are called fs1 & fs2) and you don't actually need to > set it in smb.conf, Samba will do it for you. > > You are trying to set the same 'netbios aliases' on both Samba > servers and, for the same reasons as the 'netbios name', this is not > allowed. > > Rowland > > >

And if both registered as an SPN (in AD) neither will get the SPN. As far as I can tell, there isn't a compelling reason to even have netbios enabled in an AD domain? By the way, if you register netbios aliases in smb.conf, after joining the domain, then the access works correctly. On windows fileserver this is solved by the parameter HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ LanmanServer \ Parameters \ DisableStrictNameChecking [REG_DWORD # 32] = [0 (disabled) (default) | 1 (enabled)] 11.10.2018 00:04, Andrew Bartlett via samba пишет:> On Wed, 2018-10-10 at 15:39 +0500, Шигапов Денис Вильданович via samba > wrote: >> Hi >> >> Can I set the same netbios name on multiple servers? >> >> more precisely why it does not work? >> >> >> server A >> >> [global] >> netbios name = FS1 >> netbios aliases = fs fs.example.ru >> >> server B >> >> [global] >> netbios name = FS2 >> netbios aliases = fs fs.example.ru > They will fight over the name in the netbios broadcast scope or on the > wins server. > > And if both registered as an SPN (in AD) neither will get the SPN. > > Andrew Bartlett >-- Шигапов Денис системный администратор группы компаний "Стройландия" тел. 8 3532 997-777 доб. 8715 сот. 8 906 837-60-79 email denis.shigapov at stroylandiya.ru web https://stroylandiya.ru
