This goes on (with different delays). Couldn't find any core file...

Also samba 2.2 appears to be case sensitive when checking the password when
connecting from a win2k client, but when I connect from win98se, it isn't
case sensitive during password check.

I think Jeremy fixed a bug in the 2.2. tree that 
would have caused nmdb to seg fault.

That's the difference between NT and LanMan password hashes.
See the Encryption chapter in the HOWTO for details.
