[R] [R-pkgs] g.data version 1.6, upgrade in response to changes in R-2.1.0
Version 1.6 of the "g.data" package is available on CRAN. The "g.data" package is used to create and maintain delayed-data packages (DDP's). Data stored in a DDP are available on demand, but do not take up memory until requested. You attach a DDP with g.data.attach(), then read from it and assign to it in a manner similar to S-Plus, except that you must run g.data.save() to actually commit to disk. This new version uses delayedAssign (new to R-2.1.0) instead of delay (deprecated in R-2.1.0). If it detects you are using R-2.1.0 or higher, it will automatically upgrade older DDP's. Version 1.6 of "g.data" will still work fine under earlier versions of R too. Note, however, that once you upgrade an older DDP (by g.data.attach'ing it under R-2.1.0), it will no longer be readable by earlier versions of R (which do not understand delayedAssign), so users running multiple versions of R may want to avoid this upgrade. Please contact me if this presents a problem. -- David Brahm (brahm@alum.mit.edu) [[alternative HTML version deleted]] _______________________________________________ R-packages mailing list R-packages@stat.math.ethz.ch https://stat.ethz.ch/mailman/listinfo/r-packages
