Wolfe (1973), Nonparametric statistical methods. New York: John Wiley & Sons. Pages 115??120. There is a different book from Jean Gibbons called "Nonparametric statistical inference", but I believe it does not describe the corrected Kruskal Wallis test statistic, when there are ties in the data...
