[Pkg-xen-devel] Bug#602391: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64: system fails to boot from LVM if Hypervisor loaded
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64 Version: 4.0.1-1 Severity: grave Tags: squeeze sid Justification: renders package unusable -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=de_CH.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_CH.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64 depends on no packages. Versions of packages xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64 recommends: ii xen-utils-4.0 4.0.1-1 XEN administrative tools Versions of packages xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64 suggests: pn xen-docs-4.0 <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information On a Supermicro H8SSL-I2 Server with a 3ware 8006-2LP controller I can boot the system using the plain xen-kernel and initrd (from LVM) but as soon as the hypervisor is loaded before the kernel booting fails already inside the initrd telling me that the logical volume ("system/root" in my case) cannot be found - 3ware controller drivers are loaded and seem operational. The same system and kernel will boot flawlessly without the hypervisor loaded before.

Off course this does not change anything in the way a system boots but the hypervisor obvously changes the way hardware is accessed isn't it ? Its not speculation its a fact - on this system the same kernel and initrd only are able to boot without the hypervisor loaded - Don't believe it - contact me by PM you can have IP-KVM-Access to that system convince yourself . Or give me a call or skype me if you want ... Contact details by PM if you'd like it .. ___________________________________________________________ GRATIS! Movie-FLAT mit ?ber 300 Videos.
