[Pkg-xen-devel] Test version of the glibc with xen flavour
Hi all, I have built a test version of the glibc with a xen flavour. It is available on http://people.debian.org/~aurel32/xen/ . The only difference with the version currently in sid is the presence of the libc6-xen package. If you are using xen, please test it and tell me if it fixes speed problems. If everything is ok, I will commit it into our SVN. Bye, Aurelien -- .''`. I ask becuase you have amd64 packages, but I was under the impression that the /ib/tls problem/issue/whatever was i386-specific. -Roberto -- Roberto C. Sanchez http://familiasanchez.net/~roberto

If everything is ok, I will commit it into our SVN.Hi Aurelien, thanks for your work! I will your packages this evening/night and will report you if I had success. I will test libc6-xen in dom0 (host system) as well as in a domU (guest system). For both type of xen vm's the libc6-xen package will be very usefull. And btw... it's not only because of speed issues without using this special libc6-xen package, it also because of having a solution for users that is really user-friendly. Until now almost every xen user moved /lib/tls away to disable ntpl. But on upgrading libc6 the /lib/tls directory is existing again. Because sometimes a domU (guest) system is not under control of the same person maintaining the dom0 (host) system this was really a problem. Not all users / customers / linux beginners are clever enough to move /lib/tls away after upgrading libc6/glibc, even if xen warns about that problem at least at boot time. If libc6-xen is installed, the user doesn't have to take care of this problem at all. So this is (atleast for me) as important as the speed benefit. --Ralph> Bye, > Aurelien

I will do that in the final package, but I won't rebuild the test one, I need my CPU for other things... -- .''`.
